    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject resin composition excellent in long-term light resistance by blending a cerium-containing zirconia particle as an ultraviolet absorber excellent in ultraviolet screening and durability and having a low bleeding property. CONSTITUTION:A zirconia particle containing preferably 1-50mol%, more preferably 2-30mol% cerium produced, e.g. by adding a base such as aqueous ammonia to a mixture solution of salts of zirconium and cerium, carrying out coprecipitation by neutralization and subsequently crystallizing the resultant material under heating in a pressure vessel, i.e., the hydrothermal crystallization method is added to a resin in a form of a slurry prepared, e.g. using a kneader having a vacuum-line in a ratio of 1-50wt.%, preferably 1-30wt.% based on the total amount of the resin composition. The zirconia particle is kneaded into the resin while removing the solvent, thus obtaining the objective resin composition excellent in light resistance.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a composite particle having excellent ultravioletshielding effect and containing a mother particle and child particles composed of zirconium oxide containing cerium oxide and supported on the surface of the mother particle. CONSTITUTION:The objective composite particle can be produced by supporting child particles composed of zirconium oxide containing cerium oxide and having an average particle diameter of 0.005-1mum on the surface of a mother particle having an average particle diameter of 1-20mum. The mother particle is composed of a resin such as nylon or polyethylene or an inorganic material such as silicon oxide or titanium oxide. The composite particle is suitable for the use as a sun-screening agent to be compounded to foundation, etc., and, in this case, other components such as perfumery, bacteriostatic agent, antibacterial agent and deodorant may be dispersed in the mother particle. The child particle has low activity to ultraviolet ray and causes little problems of the discoloration of the oil and fat used as a base, the roughening of the skin, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title unconventional sol by adding an acid or alkali to a crystallized zirconia-contg. aqueous mixture prepared by heating a zirconium hydroxide-contg. aqueous suspension to effect deflocculation followed by adding a water-soluble organic solvent and then removing the water contained. CONSTITUTION:A zirconium hydroxide contg. aqueous suspension is heated and held at >=80 deg.C until fully crystallized to prepare a crystallized zirconia contg. aqueous mixture. An acid or alkali is then added to this mixture to deflocculate the zirconia, thus producing a finely crystallized zirconia sol dispersed in an aqueous solvent. Thence, a water-soluble organic solvent is added to this sol followed by removing water from this sol. The water-removing method, though not specifically limited, is e.g., a heating, use of dehydrator or reverse osmosis membrane, etc. Thus, the objective sol excellent in both dispersibility and dispersion stability can be obtained.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance reformed gas oxidation catalyst that can selectively oxidize into carbon dioxide carbon monoxide contained in a reformed gas being usable as a fuel for a solid polymer type fuel cell and acting as a catalyst poison in the cell in order to overcome the conventional problem that a known zeolite-supported carbon monoxide selective oxidation catalyst can exhibit good performances in lower carbon monoxide concentrations but satisfies neither activity nor selectively in carbon monoxide concentrations higher than 1% or in the presence of carbon dioxide. SOLUTION: It has been found out that both the selectivity and the activity in selectively oxidizing carbon monoxide in hydrogen can be improved by using a zeolite of a small crystal size as the support.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zeolite membrane having a large contact angle of water and ethylene glycol useful for electrolytic capacitor and separation of material such as alcohol, to provide a capacitor comprising such permeable membrane, and to provide a method for treating the membrane. SOLUTION: To treat a zeolite membrane with a coupling agent by contacting the zeolite membrane with water and/or steam and a treating agent having active groups to be reacted with OH groups and becoming inorganic compounds after firing. To treat a zeolite membrane under heating and/or reduced pressure with a treating agent having functional groups to be able to react with silanol groups of the zeolite after contacting each other in the absence of water. The zeolite membrane thus treated has a large contact angle of water and ethylene glycol, and a high hydrophobicity, and is useful for separation of hydrogen and separation of alcohol and the like.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an electrolytic capacitor from producing a gas inside raising the inner pressure of the capacitor containing laminated anode foils and cathode foils having an anode terminal and an cathode terminal, each of which at the end extends from a container containing an electrolyte. SOLUTION: A permeable film fullfils the three conditions (1) the contact angle of ethylene glycol is 85 deg. or larger, (2) the contact angle of water is 105 deg. or larger and (3) the hydrogen permeability is 5.0×10-6 mol.m-2.s-1.Pa-1 or larger. This film is mounted on an electrolytic capacitor, so that hydrogen gas produced in a container of the capacitor permeates the film and is exhausted out of the capacitor, this avoid damaging or breaking the container due to the inner pressure increase and losing the electrolyte.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permeable membrane which shows superb heat resistance and chemical resistance and at the same time, allows the smooth permeation of hydrogen and hardly allows the permeation of water vapor, ethylene glycol vapor and the like by forming the permeable membrane of a porous support and a functional layer and specifying a hydrogen permeation rate and also a plurality of fixed conditions. SOLUTION: A porous support and a functional layer are provided and a hydrogen permeation rate is set at 1×10-10 mol/m2.s.Pa or more and further, at least one of the following three characteristics is satisfied. That is, 1) the permeable membrane allows the selective permeation of hydrogen rather than water vapor. 2) When a test tube containing ethylene glycol is sealed with the permeable membrane, then is put in an oven at 85 deg.C and the rate of loss in weight measured is 1×10-2 g/hr or less per one cm of the permeable membrane. 3) Further, a test tube containing an ethylene glycol solution of 5% ammonium adipate is sealed with the permeable membrane, then is put in an oven at 85 deg.C for two days and the acid amount of the solution then is equivalent to 5×10-3 per 1 cm2 of the permeable membrane or less.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove a trace amt. of org. matter components in water injurious to health to continuously purify water by adding zeolite selectively transmitting org. matter from water containing org. matter in below predetermined % to remove the same. SOLUTION: A water purifying membrane contains zeolite selectively transmitting org. matter from water containing below 1% of org. matter to remove the same. The main component of this water purifying membrane is zeolite, especially pref., high silica zeolite and/or pure siliceous zeolite. Zeolite is crystalline inorg. oxide having pores of a molecular size. Further, zeolite is formed into a polycrystal film shape and the shape thereof is not especially restricted but the zeolite film is pref. made as dense as possible and must selectively transmit org. matter from water containing below 1% of org. matter. This meaning shows that the concn. of the org. matter becomes larger than that of the original soln. when water containing below 1% of org. matter is brought into contact with this water purifying membrane and the vapor transmitted by evacuating the membrane from the opposite side thereof is analyzed.
