    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound in high selectively and yield, by using a mixed solvent of N,N'-dimethylformamide and an alcohol in reacting 4,4'- dibromobiphenyl with a metallic alkoxide in the presence of a copper based catalyst. CONSTITUTION:4,4'-Dibromobiphenyl is reacted with a compound expressed by the formula MOR (M is alkaline metal; R is 1-15C aliphatic hydrocarbon group or aromatic hydrocarbon group which may be substituted) in the presence of a copper based catalyst to produce the title compound useful as a raw material for biphenyl-4,4'-diol (a monomer for engineering plastics or antioxidant for high polymer materials). In the process, a mixed solvent containing N,N'- dimethylformamide (DMF) and a compound expressed by the formula R'OH (R' is respective groups of the above-mentioned R) at 0.1-10:1 volume ratio of R'OH:DMF is used to suppress debromination reaction and afford the aimed compound from the raw material readily producible from biphenyl in high yield.

The silicoaluminophosphate has an intergrowth crystal structure of the AEI structure and the CHA structure that exhibits a powder X-ray diffraction pattern with broad peaks at interplanar spacings of 6.60 Å, 5.24 Å and 4.17 Å.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a conventional solid heavy metal processing agent includes a large quantity of filler (carrier) other than a chelating agent and has only low heavy metal processing ability.
    SOLUTION: The heavy metal processing agent containing piperazine-N,N'-biscarbodithioic acid sodium hexahydrate shows no variation of weight (the content of its effective component) caused by influence of moisture in the atmosphere, and no consolidation of crystalline particles and consequently has excellent economical efficiency in transportation and excellent storage stability. In addition, efficient heavy metal processing is feasible because no generation of a harmful gas (hydrogen sulfide or carbon disulfide) takes place in storage and in use (direct mixing with a heavy metal containing substance), and furthermore the heavy metal processing agent selectively forms an insoluble complex with harmful lead.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject compound useful as intermediate for important pharmaceuticals, intermediate for important agrochemicals, raw material for photosensitive material for resist, etc., by reacting cyclohexanone with chlorine in the presence of a catalyst in a liquid phase under specific condition. SOLUTION: 2,2,6,6-Tetrachlorocyclohexanone is produced by reacting 1 mol of cyclohexanone with preferably 4.2-4.5 mol of chlorine preferably in a solvent (e.g. chlorobenzene) at 60-120 deg.C in the presence of preferably 0.5-5.0 mol.% of a catalyst (e.g. pyridine or triphenylphosphine) in liquid phase while supplying the cyclohexanone preventing the contact with the by-produced hydrogen chloride gas. The cyclohexanone is supplied e.g. directly into the liquid phase e.g. by supplying cyclohexanone into a circulation line of a reaction system consisting of a reactor, a circulation apparatus and a circulation line connecting the apparatuses.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To contrive improvement in reaction rate, by the coexistence of a specific compound, such as beta-diketone, in a reaction system in producing the title compound from 4,4'-dibromobiphenyl and a metal alkoxide using a specific mixed solvent and copper based catalyst. CONSTITUTION:4,4'-Dhibromobiphenyl is reacted with a compound expressed by the formula MOR (M is alkali metal; R is 1-15C alkyl, aralkyl or aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent group) in a mixed solvent of N,N-dimethylformamide and a compound expressed by the formula R'OH (R' has the same meaning as that of R) in the presence of a copper compound to produce the title compound useful as a raw material for biphenyl-4,4'-diol. In the process, a beta-diketone compound, nitrogen-containing heterocyclic aromatic compound and/or aliphatic amine compound are present in the above-mentioned reaction system to improve reaction rate while maintaining high selectivity. Thereby the aimed compound is obtained from the afore-mentioned raw material readily producible from biphenyl in high yield for a short time.
