Abstract:
An exercise training apparatus attached to a trainee who performs a body exercise training, includes movable bodies, actuators, sensors and a processor. The movable bodies each having a fixed member which a part of a trainee's body is fixed to and exercising a trainee's extremities by rotating around shafts, respectively. The sensors each detecting a physical quantity that changes depending on force applied to the fixed members by a trainee. The processor, in response to a detection of a predetermined change in a physical quantity by the sensors, driving the actuators, rotating the movable bodies in a first direction and successively rotating the movable bodies in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

The assembly can achieve two point gait, three point gait, and four point gait movement.
Abstract:
A lower extremity mobilizer for use in rehabilitation is provided. A seat is slidably maintained upon a base, with a foot support brace being provided at an end of the base to receive the foot of a leg provided for arthrokinematic treatment. A cord and pulley system is provided between the seat and the end of the base. In use, a patient is seated with a foot received by the foot support brace. The patient provides arthrokinematic motion to his leg by pulling himself and the seat toward the end of the device having the foot support brace. The procedure is undertaken in a closed chain motion, with the foot constantly engaging the foot support brace, and is done so as a rate, timing and extent under the control of the patient.
Abstract:
A kit for assisting a disabled person in rehabilitation is disclosed herein. The kit includes a frame. The kit also includes at least one loop mounted on the frame. The loop defines a first opening. The kit also includes a flexible elongate member extending between first and second opposite ends. The flexible elongate member is selectively receivable in the at least one loop. The kit also includes first and second attachment members. The first and second attachment members can be connected at one of the first and second opposite ends of the flexible elongate member or at some point between the first and second opposite ends. Each of the first and second attachment members is operable to form an opening of variable size to receive and releasibly tighten around a limb of the disabled person.
Abstract:
A device for assessing and display of a difference in vectors of forces exercised by a pair of arms or legs of exercising persons, e. g. patients suffering from a damage of the musculoskeletal or nervous system or sportsmen comprises a housing (1) with preferably two means (2) for a participation with a pair of limbs—arms or legs, wherein the means (2) are designed in various ways with the purpose to allow proper participation with the treated pair of limbs in an individual exercise, and are arranged on bearings (3) within the housing (1), further comprising a microcontroller (8) and optionally a computer (13), the Internet (14) for connection to an expert centre (15). Each means (2) is connected with a means (4) for the measurement of forces (F). The device of the invention further includes an accelerometer (5), a gyroscope (6) and a magnetometer (7) for the determination of its position and orientation in space, wherein all data from said means (4), said accelerometer (5), said gyroscope (6) and magnetometer (7) are gathered by said microcontroller (8) that evaluates them with models and algorithms, and said data are continuously displayed on a display (9), a monitor or a TV screen, notifying the exercising person on the exercising status and suggesting next steps.
Abstract:
A bilateral upper limb exercise device (10) for exercising a user's arms comprising a central mounting structure (12) that is mountable to a fixed surface or structure (15), left and right limb supports (14a,14b) for supporting the forearm and/or hand of a respective arm of the user, and a pair of articulated linkage arms (22a,22b) that are pivotably coupled to opposite sides of the central mounting structure (12) and which are arranged to support a respective limb support (14a,14b) for movement in at least two degrees of freedom in a two-dimensional (2D) movement plane. A mirroring mechanism is also operatively coupled to the articulated linkage arms (22a,22b) such that movement of the opposing limb support relative to a central line of symmetry of the device.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a shoulder exercise and stretching apparatus includes a forearm support, a forearm securing means for securing a user's forearm to the forearm support, an elbow support to capture the elbow of a user and keep the user's arm in a desired position to isolate the user's shoulder as a pivot point for rotation, and a rotation member coupled to the forearm support to rotate the forearm support through a desired plane and thereby provide an angular force to a target shoulder of the user. One or more handles, may be provided for grasping by a user's free hand to assist in the movement of the rotation member. Measurement means may be provided for determining the rotation of the apparatus. Resistance means may be provided to provide for resistance exercises of the shoulder.
Abstract:
Aerobic rhythmic running exercise (RRE) is an exercise mode wherein a horizontally disposed participant elevates and lowers his or her limbs alternately in a striding manner against dissipative loading provided by enabling RRE apparatus. RRE comprises safe aerobic exercise for cardiovascularly handicapped heart patients and other participants by substantially supporting or balancing the weight of the limb groups one against the other during the alternate limb elevation and lowering. It is an observed fact that the blood pressure remains near resting values during such aerobic RRE. It has also been observed that RRE allows an athlete to preferentially develop fast twitch muscles useful for enabling improved running speed. Stationary RRE apparatus comprises a supporting tripod structure, and pulley supported leg and arm supporting rope lines coupled to leg and arm drive belts that are, in turn, coupled to leg and arm drive sprockets. The drive sprockets are operatively coupled to either an energy dissipative hydraulic assembly or an energy dissipative electric assembly utilized for providing selected dissipative loading for motions thereof. Alternate RRE apparatus is semi-portable in nature and comprises an elevated housing and horizontal member for mounting all functional components including reel mounted leg and arm supporting rope lines and a timing belt coupled energy dissipative hydraulic assembly or energy dissipative electric assembly utilized for providing selected dissipative loading for motions thereof. The elevated housing and horizontal member are supported above the participant by assembled front and rear tripod legs.
Abstract:
A medical gin pole for use by patients in performing physical therapy has a collapsible construction to enable convenient portability. In an erected condition, the gin pole has an A-frame configuration formed by an elongated rectangular base and a pair of struts. Lower ends of each of the struts are frictionally engaged in spaced apertures formed in the base. Upper ends of each of the struts are pivotally mounted to a bracket. A folding brace extends between the struts and serves to retain the struts in an erected condition. A linear guide rod is pivotally mounted to the bracket for movement about a pivot axis perpendicular to the pivot axes of the strut. The linear guide rod may be extensible and terminates in a mounting plate for securement to a vertical wall surface. A carriage is formed by a hollow sleeve surrounding the rod. The carriage is mounted for reciprocal movement along the linear guide rod and a pulley is suspended therefrom. A manipulating mechanism is supported by the pulley for selectively raising and lowering limbs of a patient.
