    Abstract: An electric energy conversion/storage system includes an ozone generating means (12) for producing an ozonized gas from a raw material gas containing oxygen by utilizing electric energy, an ozone adsorbing/desorbing means (15) for adsorbing ozone contained in the ozonized gas and desorbing ozone from the adsorbed state, a gas circulation system for causing the raw material gas and the ozonized gas to flow through the ozone generating means (12) and the ozone absorbing/desorbing means (15) while feeding back to the ozone generating means (12) a residual part of the oxygen gas remaining after adsorption of ozone, a coolant supply means (16) for cooling the ozone adsorbing/desorbing means (15), and an ozone discharging means (29, 30) for taking out an ozone containing gas which contains ozone molecules from the ozone adsorbing/desorbing means (15) to thereby supply the ozone containing gas to an ozone consumer (23). The ozone discharging means (29, 30) includes an ozone concentration control means (29) for enabling supply of the ozone containing gas to the ozone consumer (23) substantially at a predetermined ozone concentration and substantially at a predetermined constant flow rate.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an air-cooled ozone generator of tubular type which has a tubular outer electrode, a tubular dielectric, for instance of glass, arranged inside the outer electrode, and an inner electrode in the form of a metal coating on the inner side of the dielectric. The outer electrode and the dielectric are spaced apart and the resulting intermediate annular gap forms a discharge space in which oxygen is converted to ozone. The ozone generator is operated by means of a low-voltage, high-frequency AC source connected to the electrodes. The outer electrode has cooling flanges, and inside the inner electrode there is provided at least one heat dissipating metal body insertable in the inner electrode and expandable to abutment against the inner electrode. Preferably, the metal body also serves as an electric connection for connecting the inner electrode to the voltage source. The metal body preferably consists of a sheet formed into a cylinder with two inwardly directed flanges.

    Abstract: An apparatus comprising a cold-plasma ozone generator, the ozone generator comprising: a non-arcing non-coronal ozone production cell capable of generating ozone; the ozone production cell having a pair of electrodes placed on two sides of the production cell and spaced apart by an electrode gap, and a dielectric layer on each of the electrodes facing inward into the ozone production cell; a high-voltage pulse generator attached to the electrodes and configured for producing a glow discharge cold plasma between the electrodes, the high-voltage pulse generator being able to produce sufficient voltage to generate the glow discharge cold plasma; a cooling system attached to each of the electrodes; and an oxygen source adapted to provide gas flow through the production cell in the gap between the pair of electrodes that efficiently generates ozone in the cold plasma, wherein the dielectric layers are intimately and directly bonded to each of the electrodes.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating high concentrations of ozone using a solid state high voltage power supply and a specially designed ozonator. The power supply comprises a rectifier and voltage doubler to which commercial AC line current is applied to produce a 300 volt DC output which, in turn, is applied across a solid state switching device to chop the DC output at an adjustable high frequency rate. The switch means is controlled by a timing and trigger circuit and the output of the switch means is applied to the input of an auto-transformer of the automotive ignition coil type which raises the high frequency output of the switch to a very high voltage level in the range of 30,000 to 50,000 volts peak to peak. This is applied to the high voltage electrode of each cell of a concentric electrode type ozone generator. The heat limiting problems encountered in the prior art are ameliorated both by elimination of iron core transformers or choke coils and by utilizing a counter-flow gas feed principle in the ozonator to cool the inner high voltage electrode by the incoming air or oxygen flow before it is passed through the corona discharge gap. This counter flow is achieved by passing the feed gas through the inside of the hollow inner electrode before entering the gap. The AC field of the inner core thus also deionizes the gas before it is passed through the corona discharge thereby achieving further energy savings. Power consumption in the power supply may be further reduced by using a single limiting impedance to drive a plurality of similar output channels, each of which is connected to its corresponding ozonator generator in a manner such as to achieve maximum power transfer. The combined effect of these features is to minimize electrical power consumption per pound of production of ozone.
