Abstract:
A textile sleeve having a seamless, circumferentially continuous wall including a textile layer formed of yarns interlaced with one another. The textile layer having an outer surface and an opposite inner surface bounding an enclosed cavity extending lengthwise along a central longitudinal axis between opposite open ends. At least some of the yarns include multifilaments resistant to heat and monofilaments resistant to heat, and a silicone-based coating adhered to the outer surface.
Abstract:
A shrapnel containment system is provided which is adapted to be installed at an interior of a building wall to contain shrapnel from a blast, the system including a panel made of a layer of elastomeric material and fastener elements to fasten the layer to a wall of a structure, with the panel optionally including a fabric reinforcing layer. A method for producing the panel is also provided.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A ballistic resistant composite comprises (i) a first unidirectional layer comprising aromatic polyamide yarns arranged parallel with each other, a second unidirectional layer comprising aromatic polyamide yarns arranged parallel with each other, the yarns of the first layer having an orientation in a direction that is different from the orientation of the yarns of the second layer, (ii) at least one binding yarn binding the first and second layers together, the binding yarn being transverse to the plane of the first and second layers, (iii) a binding resin positioned between the first and second unidirectional layers and (iv) a coating on at least portions of external surfaces of the first plurality and the second plurality of yarns and filling some space between the filaments in the first plurality and the second plurality of yarns, wherein the coating comprises a viscoelastic resin, an aqueous based fluoropolymer and a blocked isocyanate.
Abstract:
An improved secondary carpet backing fabric imparts increased resistance to buckling in carpets compared to conventional widely used secondary backings while providing the performance of conventional secondary carpet backings (e.g., similar peel strength, tuft bind, ease of handling). The improved backing is produced by a one-step weaving process and can be converted easily into carpet using current carpet making techniques. The inventive secondary carpet backing contains core-spun filling yarn with specific properties and is preferably woven in a leno or plain weave. Compared to carpets with conventional secondary backings, carpets with the inventive secondary backings display reduced growth in cyclic tensile testing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a reinforced composite material, comprising an organic polymer, a silicon polymer, and an interphase between said organic polymer and said silicon polymer, wherein said interphase comprises chemical bonds between the organic polymer and the silicon polymer, and to a method to obtain said reinforced composite material. The present disclosure can be used to improve the mechanical properties of silica aerogels by functionalization of textile materials.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a sound absorbing fabric with improved thermal insulation, and a method of manufacturing the same, wherein an inorganic aerogel powder and a thermosetting binder resin are impregnated into a non-woven fabric made of a heat-resistant fiber, wherein the inorganic aerogel powder has a surface modified by a surfactant to be uniformly mixed with and dispersed in a binder resin, thereby forming the sufficient number of micro cavities inside the non-woven fabric and increasing dispersibility of the inorganic aerogel powder, and thus heat resistance, sound absorbing and sound insulating properties, and thermal insulation properties can be significantly improved.
