Abstract:
The invention relates to a piston accumulator (1) and a method for determining a position of a piston (5) that can be moved inside a housing (3) of the piston accumulator (1). One or more inductive sensors (15) are arranged on an exterior surface (21) of the housing (3) and configured to detect a movement of the piston (5) inside the housing (3) caused by electromagnetic induction. In this way, a determination of the current position of the piston (5), which is technically simple to realise and contact-free, can be implemented and used, for example, to monitor a charge state of the piston pressure accumulator (1).
Abstract:
A piston-type accumulator has: a) an accumulator housing in the form of a cylinder tube (1) made of magnetizable material, which defines an axial direction of the housing; b) a piston (3), which can be axially displaced over a stroke path inside the cylinder tube (1) and which forms a moving separating element that, inside the accumulator housing, separates two working spaces (7 and 9) from one another; c) a magnet arrangement (29, 31, 35), placed on the piston (3) and generating a field on the wall of the cylinder tube (1), and; d) a magnetic field sensor device located on the exterior of the cylinder tube (1) and having at least one Hall sensor (51). The Hall sensor is mounted on the exterior of the cylinder tube (1) and responds to the field generated by the magnet arrangement (29, 31, 35) on the piston (3) to determine the position of the piston (3) along the stroke path.
Abstract:
A linear position sensor is installed inside the pressure vessel of a hydraulic accumulator to provide positional information for the moveable element inside of the accumulator. The positional information provides accumulator charge condition data for use in hydraulic systems such as vehicular regenerative braking systems and generalized industrial accumulator systems. Charge condition data allows for optimized control and operation of the hydraulic system.
Abstract:
A hydraulic accumulator includes an accumulator housing (1) formed of a non-magnetizable material and defining an axial direction of the housing. A separating element (9) can be axially displaced in the accumulator housing (1) and separates two working chambers (5, 7) from each other in the accumulator housing (1). A field-generating magnetic configuration (29) is arranged on the separating element. A series of magnetic field sensors (35) are arranged on the outer side of the accumulator housing (1), extend along the path of the axial movement of the separating element (9) and react to the field of the magnetic configuration (29) on the separating element (9) to characterize its position along the series of magnetic field sensors (35).
Abstract:
A piston type accumulator has a detection device that informs a user about the position of the piston incorporated therein. Abnormalities in the hydraulic system operations e.g., a gas leak from a gas chamber bounded by the piston or the sudden turning on of a fluid-actuated device in the system, can cause an excessive movement of the piston; likewise, clogging of lines or the sudden stoppage of a fluid-actuated device may cause a fluid pressure rise in the system and, consequently, a displacement of the piston to actuate the detection device. In this invention, the position of the piston is detected by use of a permanent magnet that actuates a reed relay or moves a magnetic inductive indicator installed on the outside of a accumulator shell to be readily visible thereat.
Abstract:
In the gas shortage detection device of a piston-type hydropneumatic accumulator, a control rod slidably mounted in the cylinder head on the gas side is displaced under the action of the thrust exerted by the piston when this latter comes closer to the cylinder head than a predetermined distance. A flexible motion-reversal coupling element such as an inextensible cord which works in traction and has a predetermined dead range of travel is placed between the piston and the sliding rod.Correct performance of the detection device can thus be checked by partial draining of the oil compartment, the detection device being triggered into operation when the piston comes close to the bottom end of the cylinder.
Abstract:
A hydro-pneumatic accumulator of the type in which a piston slidable within a cylinder separates a liquid and a gas under pressure, is provided with an end closure of a non-magnetic material within which closure is provided a magnetically actuated switch. Movement of the piston causes a permanent magnet to be moved relative to the switch whereby movement of the magnet into the actuating range of the switch causes the switch to be actuated and an indication of the level of the liquid in the accumulator to be provided.
