Abstract:
A Message Storage and Deliver System (10) (MSDS) is connected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and receives incoming calls with these calls being facsimile, voice, or data transmissions. The MSDS (10) detects the type of call and stores the message signal in a database. The MSDS (10) is also connected to the Internet and has a hyper-text transfer protocol deamon (HTTPD) for receiving requests from users. The HTTPD forwards requests for certain files or messages to a network server which transmits at least part of the message to the HTTPD and then to the user. In addition to request for certain documents, the HTTPD may also receive a request in the form of a search query. The search query is forwarded from the HTTPD to an application program for conducting the search of the database. The results of the search are forwarded through the HTTPD to the user. The user may then select one or more files or messages from the search results and may save the search for later reference.
Abstract:
In a communications system for conducting a teleconference, a voice bridge is employed to establish communication connections with attendees of the teleconference. In addition, a facsimile bridge is employed to distribute facsimile data associated with the teleconference. In an illustrative embodiment, the attendees provide, through the communication connections, their facsimile numbers which may be used by the facsimile bridge to distribute the facsimile data to those attendees. Alternatively, through the communication connections, the voice bridge provides the attendees with an access number for retrieving the facsimile data from the facsimile bridge.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device capable of demodulating caller identification signals even in different transmission systems and reducing power consumption in the transmission system, in which power consumption can be reduced. SOLUTION: The communication device includes: a detecting means (S103, S107) which detects reception of a communication start signal and the caller identification signal by a receiving means; an identifying means (S104, S106, S109) which identifies at least one of detection sequence and detection interval between the communication start signal and the caller identification signal based on detection results by the detecting means; and a control means (S104, S107, S110) which sets a demodulating means to an operable state or a standby state wherein the power consumption is less than that in the operable state at subsequent communication standby time, based on identification results by the identifying means. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for providing a variety of communication methods and appropriately performing communication without requiring an instruction operation of an opposite party based on respectively different communication methods, when communicating with an identical opposite party using different communication methods.SOLUTION: In an image processing device, a voice communication destination and a data transmission destination threaded therewith are registered for one destination, and a registered predetermined destination is displayed. From the content of the registered predetermined destination, the instructions of executable functions are displayed in a selective manner. When an instruction for transmission after communication to perform data communication is instructed after voice communication to the predetermined destination through the display, data transmission is performed by connecting to the data transmission destination when the completion of the voice communication is confirmed after connecting to the voice communication destination.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IP phone and an IP phone speech method whereby when the IP phone once makes call connection to a destination, the IP phone can transmit image information and information such as file data to the same destination while making a speech without making a callback. SOLUTION: The IP phone makes call connection to an IFAX function attached IP phone 110 being a speech opposite party via the Internet 103. The IP phone executes speech processing for transmitting/receiving a voice packet to/from the IFAX function attached IP phone 110 to which the IP phone makes call connection. In the case of transmitting an image to the IFAX function attached IP phone 110, during the IP phone makes a speech with the IFAX function attached IP phone 110, the IP phone generates an IFAX packet whose destination is set to the IFAX function attached IP phone 110, and transmits the IFAX packet to the Internet 103 while prioritizing the transmission of the voice packet.
