Abstract:
In an image display device configured to be connected to a network, a method of communicating over the network with a remote device on the network is disclosed. The method includes receiving a message sent to a multicast address on the network by the remote device, wherein the message includes an instruction to the image display device to perform a function; and performing the function instructed by the message.
Abstract:
A system and method are disclosed for capturing image and/or audio data, processing the image and/or audio data, and storing the processed image and/or audio data. The system includes a portable device having a digital camera for capturing the image and/or audio data, an integrated circuit having a microprocessor for processing the image and/or audio data and a non-volatile memory for storing the processed image and/or audio data. As part of the processing operation in a preferred embodiment, the data is converted into a standard file format that is compatible and recognizable by the host platform to which the portable device may be coupled. After conversion into a standard file format, the data may either be stored in the non-volatile memory, or uploaded directly to the host platform.
Abstract:
There is provided system and method for communication over a network, which includes a first gateway and a second gateway capable of communicating with each other using a packet protocol. Each gateway is capable of communicating with a local communication device, such as a modem device, over a telephone line. In modem relay mode, each gateway is capable of detecting V.8bis signals from the communication devices, blocking such V.8bis signals, and switching to modem relay mode in response to such detection. In modem pass through mode, each gateway is capable of detecting V.8bis signals from the communication devices and switching to modem pass through mode in response to such detection.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a user interface for a portable, image-processing transmitter, and apparatuses, methods and systems for a portable, image-processing transmitter and for a portable automated contractual image dealer and transmitter. The transmitter (user interface) provides a platform or compact and efficient forum for managing, manipulating, storing and transmitting digital media files across a wide array of transmission means and protocols. The capability to provide media for sale or distribution from remote locations, including the ability to choose from a number of possible buyers based on selected criteria and to remotely establish binding purchasing and/or image transferal relationships, is potentially beneficial for media applications. It may be employed by photographers, photojournalists, and/or the like to rapidly process, edit and send high-quality photographs or video to multiple news agencies, newspapers, magazines, television studios, websites and/or the like while maintaining control over their photographs by allowing them to send reduced quality and watermarked proofs. The Transmitter may be configured (via the user interface) to allow users seeking to transmit large, high-resolution images to first generate and transmit low- resolution preview images, thereby saving on transmission time and resources. Full resolution versions of the images may then be transmitted as approvals of the preview versions are received. The transmitter's broad communication capabilities ensure that it is maximally effective in locating and exploiting available communication networks, even from remote locations.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to methods and apparatus for retrieving data captured by a media device. For example, a method (300) for securely retrieving data captured by a media device (100) includes the step of a supplier offering (302) a media device to a third party. The third party captures (304) one or more media types with the media device, and contacts (306) the supplier for processing a selection of the one or more media types. The supplier provides (308) a key (200-290) to enable access to the one or more media types stored in the media device, accesses (312) the selection of the one or more media types, and processes (314) said selection. The capturing, contacting, providing, accessing and processing steps can be applied two or more use-cycles unconstrained by a supplier of said device. Additional embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
An adaptor which mediates between an image supply device and a printer causes the printer to print by selecting either of the first operation mode in which image data from the image supply device is received by wireless communication and before the completion of receiving the image data, a print job is issued to the printer by wired communication, and the second operation mode in which image data from the image supply device is received by wireless communication and after the completion of receiving the image data, a print job is issued to the printer by wired communication.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for communicating acquired digital image data between a digital image capturing device and a computer or computer network. In one embodiment of the invention, a transceiver unit is communicatively coupled to the digital image capturing device for wirelessly receiving and transmitting information between the digital image capturing device and a transceiver coupled to a computer network. The transceiver unit may be either integral with the digital camera or a standalone device which communicates with the digital camera via one or more interfaces. For example, the transceiver unit may incorporate a card reader for receiving flash cards containing stored image data. Alternatively, the transceiver unit may be coupled to the digital camera via a high speed serial interface (such as a Universal Serial Bus or I.E.E.E. 1394 connection) or by means of a data storage device which is inserted into a memory card slot on the digital camera or is hardwired to the transceiver unit.
Abstract:
To provide a printing control system capable of efficiently utilizing a printer installed in an event hall or the like. A printing control system 10 includes a printing management unit 24 capable of generating a printing command for causing a printer 40 to print an image received from a multifunctional portable terminal 50. The printing management unit 24 is configured to exclude, when a creation date and time of the received image is out of a predetermined printable period, the received image from an item to be printed, or to exclude, when the number of received images is out of a predetermined printable number, at least a part of the received images, which exceeds the printable number, from an item to be printed.
