Abstract:
The present invention relates to method for the production of a thermal fixing roller which comprises a step of tubularly coating the periphery of a core shaft (1) with a silicone rubber layer (2) thereby forming a roller, a step of immersing the roller in a polytetrafluoroethylene resin dispersion (6), pulling the roller out of the dispersion (6) by rotating, including slightly in the same direction to the horizontal plane and drying the wet roller thereby forming a polytetrafluoroethylene resin coat (4) on the roller, a step of heating the polytetrafluoroethylene resin coat (4) on the roller from outside at a temperature of 500°C or more for a period of 10 to 120 seconds, a step of heating the roller from inside thereby elevating the temperature of the polytetrafluoroethylene resin coat (4) to a level of 230°C or more and less than the melting point of the resin, and a step of subsequently heating the polytetrafluoroethylene resin coat (4) to a temperature of the melting point thereof or more thereby baking the coat (4).
Abstract:
Abstract:
There is disclosed a superior method of providing a desired surface effect in a release coating on a porous sheet-like substrate by applying a coating of an electron beam radiation curable composition or material directly to one side of a base coated paper web, pressing the coated side of the substrate against a replicative surface having the desired surface effect, irradiating the coating with electron beam radiation through the substrate to cure the coating at least sufficiently to permanently adhere it to the substrate and to enable it to be removed with the substrate and with the replicated surface effect in the coating being maintained, the irradiation step taking place after sufficient time has passed to cause the coating to penetrate into the coated paper and to be in continuous intimate contact with the coated paper. Also disclosed is the apparatus for carrying out the method and the resulting product.
Abstract:
Articles coated with multilayers of a composition of polytetrafluoroethylene plus a specified proportion of copolymers of perfluorinated polyvinyl ether and tetrafluoroethylene, to which is optionally added a heat stable polymer with a glass-transition temperature greater than or equal to 130°C, are found to have improved durability. The proportion of the copolymer in each layer varies such that there is a maximum amount in the bottom layer with decreasing proportions in the other layer or layers.
