Abstract:
A lubricant composition comprises (1) at least one member selected from the group consisting of carboxylic acid compounds each obtained by the addition of an oxyalkylene group to a hydroxyl group of a hydroxy carboxylic acid and alkali metal salts and amine salts thereof; and (2) at least one base oil selected from the group consisting of alkyl benzene, normal paraffin, isoparaffin and alpha-olefin. The lubricant composition is highly resistant to putrefaction when it is used as a metal-processing oil composition and shows excellent cutting characteristics in the metal-processing, which requires an extremely high lubricating action, such as form-rolling tap and deep hole boring. Moreover, the composition makes operations such as metal-processing operations easy since the liquid obtained by diluting it with water is transparent or translucent.
Abstract:
Fire resistant lubricating grease compositions resistant to self ignition and/or capable of self extinguishment when contacted with surfaces having temperatures of up to 900°C are disclosed. The invention provides for grease compositions comprising (1) base oil (which can be mineral, vegetable, synthetic or combinations thereof), (2) at least one grease thickener (selected from calcium sulfonates or lithium-based soaps), and (3) water as major components. The invention also provides a method for the preparation of the grease composition and a method for lubrication of bearings, gears, surfaces and other lubricated components comprising use of the grease composition of the present invention. The grease compositions of this invention display excellent fire resistance properties and still have outstanding physical and performance characteristics for applications where temperatures and loads are high, shock loading is significant and in the presence of significant amounts of water.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an oily lubricant capable of preventing seizure particularly in a high temperature portion under a high load while being applied onto a mold used for high-pressure casting, gravity casting, low-pressure casting and forging; an application method using the oily lubricant; and an application apparatus. SOLUTION: The powder containing oily lubricant for a mold contains 60-99 mass% of an oily lubricant made from an oil, 0.3-30 mass% of a solubilizing agent, 0.3-15 mass% of an inorganic powder and 7.5 mass% or less of water so as to be applied electrostatically to a mold. The electrostatic application method is for applying electrostatically to a mold the powder containing oily lubricant for a mold. The electrostatic application apparatus comprises: an electrostatic application device for providing an electrostatic force to the powder containing oily lubricant for mold; and an electrostatic application gun installed on a multiple axes robot. Abstract:
Concentrated lubricant compositions, dilutable for use in high temperature metal forming processes and containing a triaryl phosphate ester; a non-ionic and/or amphoteric surfactant, an organic sulfur-containing extreme pressure additive, an amine salt of an organic acid, and, optionally, sodium thiosulfate, exhibit improved performance in forming operations and produce parts with less part to part variation.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant for hot plastic processing that exhibits excellent lubricity and suppliability and exerts no bad influences on corrosion resistance of a product, and an outer surface-lubricating method in the manufacture of a seamless pipe using the lubricant. SOLUTION: The lubricant for hot plastic processing includes 20-40 mass% of iron oxide and 10-30 mass% of sodium silicate and has an impurity content of at most 3 mass% and a water content of 40-60 mass%. The lubricant is suitably applied to lubrication of, for example, a guide shoe at the time of piercing rolling of a high Cr steel. When the lubricant is used, it is directly applied on the outer surface of a material to be processed just before piercing rolling (desirably within 1 second before the beginning of the piercing rolling).
