    Abstract: There is provided a method of forming an aqueous composition, said method comprising
    (a) first, forming at least one aqueous polymer dispersion by a process comprising polymerizing a monomer mix comprising 5-50% by weight based on the weight of said monomer mix, of one or more carboxylic acid functional monomers;
    (b) second, adding to said aqueous polymer dispersion, ingredients comprising
    (i) 1 to 10 parts by weight of at least one swelling agent, based on 100 parts by weight of said monomer mix; and
    (ii) one or more nonionic surfactant, anionic surfactant, or mixture thereof; and

    (c) third, adding calcium cation or magnesium cation or a mixture thereof to said aqueous polymer dispersion.

    Abstract: There is provided a resin composition for aqueous paint which has well-balanced non-stain-adhering property and weather resistance and can provide a coating film having a high gloss.
