Abstract:
A foldable walker apparatus includes a pair of spaced-apart inner frame members of two parts each hinged together, with a pair of link members diagonally extending therebetween. Each link has a bend extending upwardly and outwardly. The walker has support members that are arc-shaped with a seat extending between their apexes. A collapsible basket is provided with two end members each having a rigid peripheral portion connecting the frame members and a basket member of flexible fabric extending therebetween. A self-adjusting brake rod is provided with a gripping member spring- biased to remain free of the brake rod until the gripping member is operatively actuated to engage and thereby actuate the brake rod. A brake housing fully extends around a brake pad mechanism, including a means for connecting and adjusting the corresponding brake pad, to at least the outer periphery of one of the wheels for fully protecting the brake pad mechanism.
Abstract:
The invention provides a forearm type of crutch comprising an operatively upright staff having a ground engaging foot at one end and a transverse handle and forearm support assembly at the operatively upper end, and wherein the angle of inclination of the forearm support assembly to the staff is adjustable, wherein the angle of inclination of the forearm support assembly relative to the staff is adjustable by means of a pair of co-operating positioning portions, one being stationary relative to the staff and the other being stationary relative to the forearm support assembly and wherein the positioning portions have complementarily co-operating zones that are engagable in different angular positions of the forearm support assembly and staff to provide a desired angle of inclination of the forearm support assembly relative to the staff and wherein releasable clamping means operatively hold the positioning portions in a selected engaged position for use.
Abstract:
A device for adjusting the prestress of an elastic means (22) around a predetermined tension or position (9) can especially be used to adjust height of and the relief force acting on a weight (30). A mechanic adjustment unit (40) is connected in parallel to the elastic means (22) to preadjust the value of the predetermined tension comprising a movable portion (41; 142) engaging the connection portion (25) between elastic means (22) and adjustment unit (40) and a force exerting element (50) being attached at said movable portion (41; 142). The mechanic adjustment unit (40) is in an instable equilibrium position at said predetermined tension or position (9), the movement of the movable portion (41; 142) being such that the force exerting element (50) adds an adjustment or compensation force upon deviation of the predetermined tension or position (9) of the elastic means (22).
Abstract:
The object is to provide a walking aid device having no possibility of interfering with the user’s muscle movement, with the wearing state being prevented from being disturbed. To this end, the main constraining point of equipment (waist equipment (1) and/or lower leg equipment (2)) for fixing laterally of the joint an auxiliary power generating device (a hip joint actuator (10) and/or a knee joint actuator (26)) disposed laterally of at least one place on a lower limb joint to impart an assisting force to the movement of the lower limb is disposed in a region where relatively less movement of the skin occurs when the trunk or joint is moved. Thereby, the equipment can be firmly fixed in the region where less movement of the skin occurs, i.e., the region where a less change in peripheral length occurs due to expansion and contraction of muscles; therefore, the equipment will not get out of position while giving a less sense of oppression during movement.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for the reeducation of motory deficiencies, comprising means for reeducation, characterized in that said device also comprises: means for maintaining the user; means for lightening the body weight of the user (27, 27'), exerting vertical traction, wherein the suspension point of said lightening means on the means for maintaining the user are located at the level of the center of gravity of the user, i.e. therebelow; and means for preventing the user from falling (21, 21'). The invention can be used to rededucate people how to walk.
Abstract:
A positioning device for use in apparatus for treating sudden cardiac arrest in a patient in supine position by providing chest compressions at the lower end of the sternum prevents the apparatus from moving in a caudal direction. The apparatus comprises a frame enclosing the patient at a sternal transversal plane and a pneumatic compression/decompression means mounted on the frame. The device comprises a flexible strap having a first end, a second end and a tensioning means disposed between the first and second ends. First and second end portions of the strap comprise means for attachment to the apparatus. The flexible strap has a mounted tensioned length sufficient to extend around the patient's neck. At least one of the end portions is releaseably attached.
