Abstract:
A composition that includes solid lubricant nanoparticles and an organic medium is disclosed. Also disclosed are nanoparticles that include layered materials. A method of producing a nanoparticle by milling layered materials is provided. Also disclosed is a method of making a lubricant, the method including milling layered materials to form nanoparticles and incorporating the nanoparticles into a base to form a lubricant.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil deterioration suppression device which improves the collection efficiency of an oil-deteriorated component, and can suppress an increase of a pressure loss by reducing oil passage resistance.SOLUTION: An oil deterioration suppression device 1 comprises a filtering part 3 having a filtering material 10 for filtering oil, and a deterioration suppression part 4 having a powdery deterioration suppressing agent 15 for suppressing the deterioration of oil. The deterioration suppression part comprises a passage wall 16 for holding the deterioration suppressing agent and forming an oil passage. The deterioration suppressing agent includes a mesoporous inorganic material.

Provided is a lubricant composition for seamless steel pipes or tubes working which totally satisfies various properties, such as storage stability, transferability inside an apparatus tube, sprayability to lubricated sites, and property of uniform adhesion to a high-temperature mandrel bar without losing non-carburizability or excellent lubricity to hard-to-work materials suchas 13 chromiumsteel and stainless steel. Prepared is a lubricant composition which has a viscosity property represented by the following approximate expression: . Y = a·X b wherein Y: viscosity (mPa·s),x: shear rate (s -1 ) ; and a: 4000 to 40000 and b: -1.0 to -0.3 while the lubricant composition is stored to be kept still, and a: 1000 to 20000, and b: -1.0 to -0.15 after 90 seconds from the time when shearing a lubricant composition is finished.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil additive capable of stably preventing oil from degrading for a long period when used under high temperature circumstances such as an engine, and to provide an oil filter.SOLUTION: An oil additive comprises: a hydrotalcite-like compound; and a radical trapping agent having a melting point of 130°C or larger. The oil additive can be incorporated in the oil filter.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel lubricant and a friction modifier containing a solid lubricant and a binding agent as needed in an aqueous medium. SOLUTION: The problem to be solved is appropriate to lubricate steel-steel interfaces (e.g., tractor-trailer couplings, rail-wheel systems and other heavy duty applications). The invention is attained by a composition containing a friction modifier having a high or very high positive coefficient of friction such that the coefficient of friction is considerably higher than that of the solid lubricant. The invention further relates to a composition containing the binding agent and the friction modifier having a high or very high positive coefficient of friction in an aqueous medium.
