Abstract:
A web services enablement system includes a computer adapted to send and receive information to and from a first service, to send and receive information to and from a second service, which may not be a web service, to manage a connection with a third, stateful, service and to send and receive information via the stateful service based on information received from the first service or the second service. Also a method of enabling two-way web services and stateful transactions that includes steps of providing an architecture of base services (30) and meta-services (34), defining a first base service comprising a core component and an extension component, combinin the first base service and a meta-service to create a first usable service, managing a relationship between the first usable service and a second service through dependency or binding or utility, and performing a stateful transaction using the first usable service.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a system for and a method of selecting a combination of resources for transmitting data from a remote site to a destination site. The method comprises generating a list of combinations of resources at a regional site and transmitting the list to the remote site. Data is transmitted from the remote site to the regional site using each combination of resources and statistics for each transmission are stored. Metrics, based on the application at hand, are computed for each set of statistics corresponding to each transmission, and a preferred combination of resources is selected at the regional site based on the metrics. The regional site then transmits to the remote site information corresponding to the preferred combination of resources. The remote site is then configured to transmit data to the destination site using the selected combination of resources. Resources include links with a specified bandwidth, VPN and GRE tunnels, and routers configured to perform MPLS switching, type-of-service routing, and source routing.
Abstract:
A home-based terminal, or so-called bare-bones PC, includes a processor, which is capable of handling a high-speed data connection to a service provider. The home user would instruct the service provider to construct a virtual PC having user selected hardware performance characteristics (e.g. processor class, processor speed, memory storage size and speed), and having user selected software titles (e.g. word processors, spread sheets, games). The service provider would charge a subscription fee for the virtual PC, and would be responsible for installing and updating the selected software titles. Further, the service provider would be responsible for backing up data and for maintaining up-to-date virus protection for the virtual PC.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method of and a system that monitors a network resource of a network and an application performance. The method categorizes a first subset of network traffic into trusted, known to be bad, and suspect categories. The method determines an action for a second subset of traffic based on the categorizing. Some embodiments provide a system for an adaptive networking having a first device and traffic that has a first subset and a second subset. The system also includes a first resource and a second resource for the transmission of the traffic. The first device receives the traffic and categorizes the traffic into the first and second subsets. The first device assigns the first subset to the first resource. Some embodiments provide a categorization module that categorizes incoming traffic, and a resource assignment module that assigns the categorized traffic for a particular resource. A traffic category for the device includes suspect traffic.
Abstract:
A method of providing power management in a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is presented. The method includes receiving a Traffic Indication Map (TIM) at a station, indicating the presence of buffered frames, associated with any AC, for the station at an Access Point (AP). The method further includes sending, by the station, one of an uplink data frame if one is buffered, and a null frame to retrieve the buffered frames from said AP. The station remains awake to receive frames from the AP until a downlink frame is received containing an indication that it is the last frame to be transmitted in the service period. The method may further include determining at the end of service period whether there are more frames remaining buffered for the station at the AP.
Abstract:
A call processing system, which may include multiple distributed call center sites, utilizes a local back-off approach to endpoint registration. The call processing system comprises a plurality of endpoints and at least a first server, wherein the endpoints register with the first server in order to send and receive calls in the call processing system. Responsive to an end-to-end connectivity failure or other designated event, a registration process is initiated in the call processing system for a given one of the endpoints. The issuance of at least one message of the sequence for the given endpoint is controlled so as to provide a local random back-off or other local back-off of the controlled message at that endpoint. For example, a second server implemented as an aggregation server may be operative to control the issuance of messages by the endpoints so as to provide a local random back-off for each of the plurality of endpoints by staggering the delivery of failure notifications to the endpoints.
Abstract:
A distributed interactive voice processing system is disclosed that distributes IVR capabilities to one or more agent terminals associated with a call center. One or more agent terminals support the traditional functions of a live agent, as well as additional IVR capabilities to support the functions of a virtual or automated agent. A call management system manages the distributed IVR resources by monitoring the availability status of the live and automated IVR agents in the distributed interactive voice processing system and distributing telephone calls and other types of communications to the appropriate agents. The availability status of the automated IVR agents is based on estimated available CPU cycles on the agent terminal. A received call is . routed to the extension on the agent terminal associated with the selected IVR channel. A VXML process associated with the selected IVR channel obtains the appropriate application software from a central voiceXML application server and executes the VXML page(s) to play the appropriate prompts from the IVR script to the caller and to collect DTMF or speech recognized inputs from the caller. The distributed design allows centralized application management while using distributed resources to provide improved IVR availability.
