    Abstract: A low profile operating mechanism (28) for selectively extending and retracting a slide-out section (12) of a vehicle body (8) includes a pair of substantially parallel outer rails (38) secured to the vehicle body (8). Each of the outer rails (38) has an inner end and an outer end. A pair of substantially parallel inner rails (44) are provided for supporting the slideout section (8) thereon. Each of the inner rails (44) is slidably mounted for longitudinal movement within one of the outer rails (38). A drive arrangement is secured to the outer ends of each outer rail (38) for selectively moving the inner rails (44) into and out of the outer rails (38) to extend and retract the slide-out section (12) of the vehicle body (8). The drive arrangement is constructed and arranged to define rearwardly thereof a relatively unobstructed storage space beneath the vehicle body (8).

    Abstract: Sealing devices are provided between the packing drum and the connecting rod on the one hand and between the packing drum and the cylinder body on the other hand. The packing drum has a radial external peripheral surface which extends between two head surfaces. The packing drum (5) on the side of the head surface (15) turned away from the piston (7) is provided with a brush. The greatest radial dimension of the brush is so much greater than the inner diameter of a ring (12) that the brush engages around the ring, forming a closed shape connection with it, so that the packing drum (5) in relation to the cylinder body (1) is fixed in both axial directions.

    Abstract: A travelling clamp unit of the type for extending and retracting a T-head clamping cylinder into and out of a T-slot of a press has a main frame which supports clamping cylinder drive means and the clamping cylinder when it is in a parked position in which it is retracted from the T-slot of the press. The main frame has rails which support the clamping cylinder T-head in the parked position and which are removable from the main frame so that the T-head can be dropped out of the bottom end of the main frame for removing the clamping cylinder from the travelling clamp unit.

    Abstract: A soft-top for a car can be moved hydraulically between a closed and an open position. The soft-top is stored in a chamber behind the cabin, closed off with a lockable lid. The lock actuator is also hydraulically operated, of the double-working type with two working chambers separated by a piston, the flow of fluid to one chamber serving to release the actuator. The pump (15) is reversible with two connectors. One connector has a pipeline to the above-mentioned working chamber and another pipeline to a container with a non-return valve. The other connector has a pipeline to the other working chamber of the lock actuator and another pipeline to the container.

    Abstract: A system (10) for tightening a threaded fastener with a hydraulic wrench (14) has a pumping unit (12) which measures parameters representative of the torque applied to the fastener and the angle of advance of the fastener, remote from the wrench (14). The pump (12) measures pressure as a parameter representative of torque and measures pump speed as a parameter representative of the angle of advance of the fastener. A ratchet-type hydraulic wrench is used, and the pressure versus angle data produced in tightening a fastener is manipulated to discard irrelevant portions and smooth relevant portions to provide data representative of torque and angle during the tightening process from which to determine a final stopping parameter for terminating tightening. The system also has a calibration fixture (19) for determining the volumetric rate of angle advance for a given wrench (14). Any tightening methodology dependent upon angle may be used to practice the invention, or the invention may be applied to monitor the tightening process.

    Abstract: A two stage pump has coaxial first and second stage reciprocating pumps with the second stage piston reciprocably driven by the first stage piston. Multiple sets of first and second stage pumps are provided, and the second stage pistons can be returned by supercharge pressure, a loose connection between the first and second stage pistons, or a spring. An accumulator which is charged on a compression stroke and discharged on an intake stroke may also be provided in communication with a pumping chamber to improve the efficiency of a pump.

    Abstract: Double-action cylinders (1.1, 1.2) are powered by a pump (5). They are controlled by spring-loaded electromagnetic valves (11, 12). Hydraulically-served NRVs (13, 14) lock the cylinders in position, under load. The stippled enclosure (A) is a one-piece block (20) containing the feed and return channels (21, 24) and channels (23, 26) serving the valves (11, 12). A second one-piece housing (30) contains the components enclosed by the stippled line (B). Connecting ports (31, 32, 33, 34) are bored in it. Valve moving parts are with advantage mounted directly in borings in the blocks rather than as separate cartridges.
