    Abstract: Apparatus for cementing a casing string in a slant well includes a slant drilling rig (16) including a slanted mast (22) having a pair of spaced rails (24,26) with an elevator (28) spanning between the rails and reciprocable along a length thereof for reciprocating a casing string (12) with the casing string lying generally between and parallel to the rails. The mast has an open generally upward facing side (34). A cement plug container apparatus (30) has a cementing manifold (42) and a release plunger assembly (64) attached thereto and positioned about the container relative to each other such than an angle of substantially less than 180 DEG , and most preferably approximately 90 DEG , is defined therebetween. Thus, the container is substantially free of any radial protrusions outside that angle and can lie generally flat within the confines of the space between the rails of the tilted mast. The container is of a lift through design having a lifting sub attached to the upper end thereof so that the container and a casing string supported therefrom can be reciprocated within the slant rig so as to reciprocate the casing string while cementing the same in place.

    Abstract: A pressure operated downhole circulation valve comprises a cylindrical housing having an open longitudinal passageway (216) therethrough and a circulation port (252) disposed through a wall thereof. A valve mandrel (218) is slidably received in the housing and is movable between a position in which fluid may be circulated only between the passageway and the exterior of the housing, a position in which fluid may be circulated only between the exterior of the housing and the passageway (illustrated), and a position in which fluid may not be circulated in either direction. An annular piston (270) is operatively connected to the valve mandrel and has a first side exposed to pressure exterior of the housing and a second side exposed to pressure interior of the housing to permit movement of the valve mandrel to its various positions by application of pressure to the interior and exterior of the housing.

    Abstract: An inflatable packer for sealing an annular space (114) includes a housing (48) having an inner bore (50) and an annular inflatable bladder (24) received in the inner bore of the housing. The bladder has an inflation cavity (38) defined therein for containing an inflation fluid. The bladder has first (30) and second (32) axial ends and has radially inner (34) and outer walls (36), and is inflatable to provide a seal between the housing and an elongated cylindrical member (18), typically a piling, received through the bladder. First (26) and second (28) end rings are sealingly bonded to the first and second ends of the bladder and also sealingly attached to the housing so that a back-up seal is thereby provided against leakage of inflation fluid through the radially outer wall of the bladder. An inflation coupling (56) is attached to the radially outer wall.

    Abstract: Irregular volumes within one or more three dimensional volume datasets are identified and extracted in response to criteria (16).
