    Abstract: Irregular volumes within one or more three-dimensional volume datasets are identified and extracted in response to criteria. The processing involves automatically finding a seed voxel or seed cell that meets the criteria and thus belongs to an irregular volume of interest, and then identifying cells related to the seed cell by one or more predetermined relationships that are therefore also to be grouped into that irregular volume. Information, which can be of any suitable type, identifying each such cell as being related to other cells and belonging to an irregular volume is stored in a suitable data structure. The location or similar neighborhood information and other data describing properties or attributes of the identified cell are also stored. Because the irregular volumes are extracted and pre-processed in this manner, operations including rendering them on a display and performing Boolean and arithmetic operations on them can readily be performed.

    Abstract: A cementing head apparatus (10) has a body (12) connectable to a tool string, and a cementing manifold (14) connectable to the cement source. The manifold (14) is rotatably mounted on the body (12) to provide continuous fluid communication between the manifold and body even when the body is rotating with respect to the manifold. The rotatable connection is provided by a mandrel (40) extending from the body (12) and the sleeve (68) connected to the manifold. The mandrel defines a mandrel central opening (58) therethrough and a transverse mandrel hole (60) in communication with the mandrel opening, and the sleeve defines a transverse sleeve hole (88) therethrough. The mandrel has a mandrel groove (64) and an outwardly facing surface thereof adjacent to the mandrel hole, and the sleeve has a sleeve groove (90) in an inwardly facing surface thereof adjacent to the sleeve hole. The sleeve and mandrel grooves are substantially aligned and define an annular channel therebetween which assures fluid communication between the mandrel hole and sleeve hole.

    Abstract: A well is completed by cementing a casing string (12) in place in the well. A jetting tool assembly (44,46,48) is run into the casing string on a tubing string. The jetting tool assembly engages a sliding sleeve (66) of a casing valve (24) and slides the sliding sleeve to an open position uncovering a plurality of housing ports (56) in the casing valve housing (50) in which the sleeve is received. Then, disintegratable plugs (96) are hydraulically jetted from the housing ports to communicate a subsurface formation adjacent the casing valve with an interior of the casing string. Preferably, prior to opening the sleeve and hydraulically jetting the plugs, residual cement is drilled from the casing string, then further residual cement is hydraulically jetted from the casing valve, and then the casing valve is backwashed by reverse circulation.
