Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the drain disturb effect of a flash memory. SOLUTION: A semiconductor device has a whole read bit line 12, a whole write bit line 14 and local bit lines 15 for a flash memory cell array and each column of cells, the column of the cells is divided into sub-columns, and the individual local bit lines are electrically connected to the cells of associated sub-columns. The local bit lines are coupled and decoupled with the whole read bit line through local read selection transistors 18 and coupled and decoupled with the whole write bit line through local write selection transistors 20. One local bit line for the column is coupled with the whole read bit line and other local bit lines are coupled with the whole write bit line. Thus, if a cell to be read and a cell to be written exists on the same column, a data is written in one cell and a data is read from the other cell.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an effective landing zone area on a magnetic disk by using a laser beam having a large-sized beam spot advantageous for manufacture. SOLUTION: On the magnetic disk continuous peaks extending from its pedestal surface to the outside are formed by turning a series of effectively overlapping laser radiation onto the landing zone. The effectively overlapping laser radiation is a series of radiation overlapping from 0% to nearly 99% from a regular pulse laser. By forming the continuous peaks, a large-sized laser beam is used, and the depth of focus becomes larger than usual small-sized unoverlapping discrete laser radiation.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain resampling in a single FIR filter without individually requiring an interpolator and a selective extractor by providing the single FIR filter with a combined function for interpolation, filtering and selective extraction. SOLUTION: A luminance filter 19 and a color filter 20 are charged with parts corresponding to selective extraction operation peculiar to interpolation, FIR filtering and resampling. Namely the filter 19 is driven by a Y signal and the filter 20 is driven by both of Cb and Cr signals. Each of the Cb, Cr signals has a half of the execution sampling rate of the Y signal. The filter 20 executing clock operation at the same speed as the filter 20 alternately processes Cb and Cr sampling streams by a time division method. Respective FIR coefficients to be used by the filters 19, 20 are stored in an FIR coefficient storage device 18.

Abstract: An improved method of manufacturing active matrix displays with ESD protection through final assembly and in process testing and repair capabilities. Abstract: An output buffer circuit, which reduces its switching speed in response to the operation of a neighboring output buffer circuit, is presented. The output buffer circuit has a pair of drive transistors which switch complementarily in responsive to an input signal to the buffer circuit. In normal operation, each of the drive transistors is driven by a speed-up block for high-speed switching. When a similar drive transistor of a neighboring output buffer circuit is also switching, the speed-up block is switched off so that the drive transistor of the first output buffer circuit switches in a slower mode to avoid noise generation. The noise reduction connection between output buffer circuits is in the form of a daisy chain.

Abstract: An ATM switch with a switch queuing system which minimizes cell loss for bursty traffic, while avoiding delay for time-critical. The switch has a plurality of input ports and a plurality of output ports, a switch fabric transmitting cells from the input ports to the output ports, and a backpressure signal circuit connected between each output buffer of each output port and each input buffer of each input port. Each input port has an input buffer holding ATM cells when the cells arrive faster from the port's input channel than the input port can transmit. The input port transmits cells from its input buffer responsive to a plurality of priority levels. Each output port has an output buffer holding cells when the cells arrive faster from the input ports than the output port can transmit. The output port also transmits cells from its output buffer responsive to a plurality of priority levels. The backpressure signal circuit sends a signal from a congested output buffer through the switch fabric to those input port buffers which had immediately transmitted a cell to the output buffer so that the input port buffers cease transmission. In this manner, the ATM switch drops cells on a per-connection basis, rather than on cell priority level.

Abstract: An improved planar color filter structure to reduce defects in the display devices incorporating the color filter structures, including active matrix displays. A color filter substrate has a thicker polyamide black matrix formed thereon and a transparent polyamide layer formed over the black matrix. The transparent layer is exposed through the black matrix and developed to remove the unexposed portions over the black matrix. The resulting surface is substantially planar and facilitates the forming of the remaining layers to form a substantially planar color filter structure.
