Abstract:
The present invention relates to a chemocatalytic liquid-phase process for the direct one-stage amination of alcohols to primary amines by means of ammonia in high yields using a catalyst system containing at least one transition metal compound and a xantphos ligand.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for preparing primary amines comprising the process steps A) provision of a solution of a primary alcohol in a fluid, nongaseous phase, B) contacting of the phase with free ammonia and/or at least one ammonia-releasing compound and a homogeneous catalyst and optionally C) isolation of the primary amine formed in process step B), characterized in that the volume ratio of the volume of the liquid phase to the volume of the gas phase in process step B is greater than 0.05 and/or in that process step B is carried out at pressures greater than 10 bar.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an improved method for releasing an organic acid, preferably a carbon, sulfone or phosphone acid, particularly an alpha or beta hydroxycarbon acid, from the ammonia salt thereof by releasing and removing ammoniac and simultaneous extraction of the released acid, having an amine as a suitable extraction means from the aqueous phase. This method corresponds to a reactive extraction. The reactive extraction of an organic acid from the aqueous ammonia salt solution thereof can be significantly improved by the use of a strip medium or carrier gas, such as nitrogen, air, water vapor or inert gases such as argon. The released ammoniac is removed from the aqueous solution by the continuous gas flow and can be resupplied into a production process. The free acid can be obtained by a method such as distillation, rectification, crystallization, reextraction, chromatography, adsorption or by a membrane method from the extraction means.
Abstract:
Moldings are disclosed for use as a catalyst or catalyst support for hydrating olefin, such as ethylene and propylene. The moldings are based on a pyrogenically produced mixed oxide having the following physicochemical parameters: External diameter 0.8-25 mm BET surface area 5-400 m2/g Pore volume 0.2-1.8 ml/g Fracture strength 5 to 350 N Composition At least two materials selected from the group of SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2 and ZrO2 in any desired combination, with the proviso that when the combination is a SiO2/Al2O3 mixed oxide, at least 75 wt. % of SiO2 is present based on the total weight of the mixed oxide. Other constituents

Compacts based on pyrogenically produced silicon dioxide and having the following physical and chemical characteristics: Outer diameter 0.8-20 mm BET surface area 30-400 m2/g Pore volume 0.5-1.3 ml/g Breaking strength 10-250N Composition >99.8 wt. % SiO2 Other constituents
Abstract:
A catalyst and method of its production for use in making vinyl acetate monomer. The carrier is impregnated with a basic solution and a solution containing gold salts and palladium salts and finally impregnated with alkali acetate. The activity and selectivity of the catalyst, its mechanical strength, the noble-metal adhesion and the dispersion of noble metal on the carrier can be improved if the carrier is impregnated in a pretreatment with salts containing as cation elements of groups IA, IIA, IIIA and IVB of the periodic table and as anions elements of group VIIA or complex anions such as nitrate, sulfate or anions of organic acids such as acetate and lactate and is subsequently dried and calcined at temperatures of at least 160.degree. C.
Abstract:
A ternary platinum alloy catalyst on a conductive carbon carrier for use in fuel cells is disclosed. For the production of the catalyst, nitrate salts are used as precursors of the alloy components and all alloy components are deposited concurrently on the carbon carrier. This method of procedure yields ageing-stable catalysts with high oxygen mass activity.
