Abstract: 8606. Weber, W. June 10. Blasting- cartridges.- Relates to cartridges containing an absorbent material for liquid air, a metallic powder, and a primer, and consists in separating the metallic powder from the absorbent and using it in Small proportions such as /10 th. As shown, the cartridge comprises a double-walled outer casing a, an inner perforated tube b, a charge d of combustible absorbent such as cotton, cork, sawdust or linen, and a charge c' of metallic powder such as aluminium and a detonator c in a bag c. Corrugated paper is inserted between the walls of the casing a, and longitudinal grooves covered with paper are provided for the wires p of the detonator. The charges are inserted from the bottom, which is then closed up by a cap f ; and the liquid air is poured in down the tube b, which is then closed by a plug g. The cartridge is then inserted in the bore hole, the hole tamped--vent holes being left through the tamping by means of skewers-and the shot fired. Liquid air may also be allowed between the double walls of the cartridge. The bore hole may be cooled by liquid air before the insertion of the charge.

Abstract: The electrical miniature plug connection has a retaining part and a plug part which can be inserted therein. The retaining part has an upper part with plug cavities for holding the plug and a lower part in which two live contact socket strips are inserted on both sides. In order to produce an earth connection without having to increase the dimensions of the plug connection, a third contact socket strip is inserted in a centre slot of the base part, which third contact socket strip, however, is offset in height with respect to the two live contact socket strips, and is located lower. The plug has a third contact pin which forms an earth contact pin and is offset so far with respect to the two other live contact pins that leakage currents and spark flashover are prevented. The earth contact pin is extended so far with respect to the two live contact pins that it engages first with its associated contact socket strip.

Abstract: The socket has upper and base parts held together by ratchet elements projecting from one of the parts and engaging holes in the other part. The ratchet elements consist of hooks projecting inside the base part and running adjacent to the wall of the upper part. The hooked ends of the hooks engage in holes in this wall. The hooks may be fixed rigidly to the base part or they may be hinged to it by means of thin regions. No special connection points such as screws are required. The socket can only be opened with some knowledge of its construction.
