Abstract: PURPOSE: A device and a method for checking the network connection in a portable terminal are provided to transfer a LAU(Location Area Update) or RAU(Routing Area Update), thereby transmitting the heartbeat in point setting a bearer. CONSTITUTION: A transmission time setup unit(102) resets the data packet transmission point as a bearer connection time which essentially performs in a portable terminal. Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for service registration in a multi mode portable terminal are provided to try the registration to another network by releasing a service disable state when a service disable state occurs resulting from the refusal to the registration of the network. CONSTITUTION: A system registration management unit(102) confirms the priority of the preset service registration when registering a service, and performs the registration procedure to the network that provides the confirmed priority service.
