    Abstract: A trellis encoder for encoding a dual transport stream is provided to perform initialization in suitable timing and perform the trellis encoding of the transport stream. The first multiplexer(111) selectively outputs one of the first bit in a transport stream and a storing value stored in the first memory(115) according to an external control signal. The first adder(113) adds the output value outputted from the first multiplexer and the storing value stored in the first memory, and stores the added result value in the first memory. The second multiplexer(112) selectively outputs one of the second bit in the transport stream and a storing value stored in the second memory(116) according to the external control signal. The second adder(114) adds the output value of the second multiplexer and the storing value stored in the second memory, and stores the added result value in the third memory(117).

    Abstract: A digital broadcasting transmitter and a method for inserting information for demodulation of a receiver thereof are provided to enable the receiver to check information about improvement of receipt performance accurately by inserting the information for demodulation of the receiver into a preliminary area of a field sync signal. A turbo coder(100) performs turbo coding on a transport stream. A field sync signal generator(120) inserts information necessary for modulation of a predetermined receiver into a preliminary area of a field sync signal. A multiplexer(130) forms a data frame by adding a segment sync signal and the field sync signal, into which the information for demodulation of the receiver is inserted, to the turbo-coded transport stream.

    Abstract: An apparatus for processing a data stream for a digital broadcasting system and a method therefor are provided to extract and process only partial data in the data stream to improve the signal processing efficiency of an ATSC(Advanced Television System Committees) VSB(Vestigial Side Band) type, insert the processed data into an extraction part of the data stream, and reconfigure the data stream. A data extractor(341) receives a data stream from an interleaver(330), and extracts specific data from the received data stream. A data processor(342) performs a data process for the extracted data. A data stuffer(342) inserts the processed data into an extraction part of the data stream, and reconfigures the data stream. The data stream is a dual transport stream including a normal data stream and a turbo data stream.

    Abstract: A digital broadcasting transmitting apparatus, a turbo stream processing method of the digital broadcasting transmitting apparatus, and a digital broadcasting system including the transmitting apparatus are provided to respectively compress a normal stream and a turbo stream which constitute a dual TS(Transport Stream) by using different compression methods to improve compression performance and picture quality.
