Abstract: The system for providing high definition signals using same the frequency band as NTSC signals comprises a receiver processor (1) for processing the aerial inputs and a narrow band filter (2) for separating an IF signal from the carrier. The IF signal is filtered (3) to provide an input to a quadrative phase shift modulator (4), with multipliers (41,42) handling the frequency phase locked loop (5) signal. Outputs are filtered at (6,7) and converted into digital form (8,9) and are separated at (15) into a sync. signal, an audio signal, a motion vector and a control signal. The signals are processed (10) to control the D/A output stage (14).

Abstract: The scanning circuit extracts brightness and color signal from video signal to detect movement signal and converts interlaced scanning to sequential scanning using the movement signal. The circuit includes a comb filter (12) for extracting brightness and color signal, a frame difference detector (13) for detecting brightness difference of frames from field brightness data (Yf), a field difference detector (14) for detecting brightness difference of fields from field brightness data, a level comparator (15) for comparing output signals of the field and the frame brightness difference detector, a mixer (16) for mixing comb output signal, a sequential scanning signal generator (17) for generating sequential scanning signal according to the output signal of the mixer, and a level controller (18) for controlling ratio of the mixer and for generating scanning control signal.
