    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for mapping a connection identifier in a mobile communication system are provided to process mass data at high speed, and to easily modify information related to the connection identifier. An apparatus for mapping a connection identifier includes a host processor(410), a memory controller(420), a DSP(Digital Signal Processor,430), and an FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array,440). The host processor searches for a connection identifier matched with an IP packet which is received from a PAR(Packet Access Router,130) located at a higher level and is stored in a memory(20) by controlling the memory controller. Then, the host processor maps the connection identifier with the IP packet, and performs a higher level MAC(Media Access Control) function including at least one between an IP packet scheduling and a resource assignment function. The DSP receives the IP packet mapped with the connection identifier via a PCI bus from the host processor, and performs a lower level MAC function including at least one of a packet encoding and a CRC(Cycle Redundancy Check) generation and checking function. The FPGA receives the IP packet mapped with the connection identifier via the PCI bus from the DSP and performs a high speed and time restrictive lower level MAC function including at least one between an IP packet HEC(Header Error Control) generation and checking function. The memory controller matches the first information with the second information one to one, stores the matched information and cyclically updates the first and the second information. The memory controller searches for the second information matched with the first information of the IP packet in the memory and provides the second information for the host processor.
