    Abstract: Abstract Combined force and proximity sensing is disclosed. One or more sensors can concurrently sense a force applied by an object on a device surface and a proximity of the object to the surface. In an example, a single sensor can sense both force and proximity via a resistance change and a capacitance change, respectively, at the sensor. In another example, multiple sensors can be used, where one sensor can sense force via either a resistance change or a capacitance change and another sensor can sense proximity via a capacitance change.

    Abstract: Reconstruction of an original touch image from a differential touch image is disclosed. Reconstruction can include aligning columns of the differential touch image relative to each other and aligning the image to a baseline DC value. The column and baseline alignment can be based on the differential image data indicative of no touch or hover, because such data can more clearly show the amount of alignment needed to reconstruct the original image. The reconstruction can be performed using the differential image data alone. The reconstruction can also be performed using the differential image data and common mode data indicative of the missing image column average.

    Abstract: Touch sensitive device comprising: touch panel 824 sensing a proximate object; scan logic 810 performing a scan sequence on the panel to measure a touch by the object and grounding of the object; and processor 802, 828 to compensate touch measurements according to grounding measurements. The circuitry comprises: multiple first (drive) lines, at least one of the first lines driving the circuit with a stimulation signal and at least one other first line sensing a first capacitance between the object and ground; multiple second (sense) lines to form pixels 826 with first lines and sensing a second capacitance at the pixels indicative of a touch by the object; and a processor 802, 828 compensating the second capacitance with the first capacitance based on a grounding condition of the object. The drive lines sensing the first capacitance can be below or above the stimulated drive line. The touch device measures touch and grounding concurrently or by a first scan to measure touch and a second scan to measure grounding. Also claimed is a touch panel with switching circuitry coupled to drive lines. The device compensates for negative pixel effect in multi touch signal due to poor grounding of the touching object.
