Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch sensor panel used as an input device of a computer system.SOLUTION: There is provided use of a plurality of stimulation frequencies and phases for generation of a contact image on a touch sensor panel. A plurality of sense channels can be coupled to columns in the touch sensor panel, and can have a plurality of mixers. The respective mixers in the sense channels can use a circuit capable of generating a specific demodulation frequency. In a plurality of stages, rows of the touch sensor panel can be simultaneously stimulated using selected frequencies of various phases, and the plurality of mixers in the respective sense channels can be set to demodulate signals received from the columns connected to the respective sense channels using the selected frequencies. After all the stages, demodulated signals from the plurality of mixers can be used for calculation for determining a contact image to the touch sensor panel at each frequency.

Abstract: Negative pixel compensation in a touch sensor panel is disclosed. The panel can compensate for a negative pixel effect in touch signal outputs due to poor grounding of an object touching the panel. To do so, the panel can reconstruct a captured touch image to remove negative pixel values indicative of the negative pixel effect and compute a composite image from the captured image and the reconstructed image to replace the captured image. Abstract: Using multiple digital mixers in touch panels to perform spectrum analysis of noise and identify low noise stimulation frequencies and use of the multiple stimulation frequencies and phases to generate an image of touch is disclosed. Each of a plurality of sense channels can be coupled to a column in a touch panel and can have multiple mixers. Each mixer in the sense channel utilizes a circuit generating a demodulation frequency of a particular frequency. At each of multiple steps, various phases (e.g. positive and negative) of selected frequencies can be used to simultaneously stimulate the rows of the touch sensor panel, and the multiple mixers in each sense channel can be configured to demodulate the signal received from the column connected to each sense channel using the selected frequencies in phase. The selected stimulation frequencies may be low noise frequencies. The demodulated signals from the multiple mixers can be used in calculations to determine an image of touch at each frequency. Also claimed is touch screen where image of touch is obtained during vertical blanking. Driver logic is claimed including a charge pump for converting low level supply voltage into higher level voltage and utilising the higher level voltage to generate reduced amplitude stimulation signals for driving a plurality of drive lines; a plurality of sense channels each including a charge amplifier for receiving a sense signal from a different sense line, wherein each charge amplifier in each sense channel includes a reduced feedback capacitance whose physical size is scaled down in accordance with a lower amount of charge injected into the sense lines by the reduced amplitude stimulation signals.
