Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for performing cell selection or reselection in networks that include earth moving beams. In one example, a method includes receiving, via a satellite, control information transmitted by a base station indicating that a beam associated with a cell ID has been redirected; in response, measuring a beam strength of the redirected beam; and performing cell re-selection based on the measured beam strength.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for supporting switching between point to point and point to multipoint delivery with service continuity for broadcast and multicast services in a wireless communication system. A cellular base station and a wireless device may establish a wireless link. The cellular base station may provide information configuring an over the air delivery type with which to receive a broadcast or multicast service, which may be received by the wireless device. The cellular base station may transmit the service using the configured delivery type, and the wireless device may correspondingly receive the service. The cellular base station may provide information configuring the wireless device to switch to a different over the air delivery type, with service continuity. The cellular base station may then transmit the service using that delivery type, and the wireless device may correspondingly receive the service.

Abstract: While in an inactive state, a user equipment (UE) device transmits a message to a base station. The message indicates the UE device's intent to perform transmission and/or reception of user data with the network during the inactive state. The message may include a portion of the user data and/or a buffer status report. The UE device receives a response message that induces a state transition in the UE device. Different state transitions (e.g., to idle, inactive, legacy inactive, connected) may be induced by different types of response message (e.g., release, release with suspend configuration, resume, setup). One particular type of response message causes the UE to stay in the inactive state and enables subsequent user data transmission/reception in the inactive state. The response message may implicitly (or explicitly) indicate that forwarding of the user data to a core network was successful.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for reducing latency in a high-propagation-delay wireless communication system. A user equipment device (UE) may transmit to a base station (BS) a first buffer status report (BSR) indicating an amount of uplink data buffered by the UE for transmission to the BS, and may subsequently transmit to the BS a first BSR update message indicating that an additional amount of uplink data has been buffered by the UE subsequent to transmission of the first BSR. The first BSR update message may be transmitted prior to expiration of a timer authorizing transmission of a second BSR following the first BSR. The UE may receive from the BS an uplink grant allocating resources for transmission of at least a portion of the uplink data buffered by the UE. The uplink grant may have a size based on the first BSR and the first BSR update message.

Abstract: Improved configured grants (CGs) may include the designation of a footprint corresponding to uplink transmission of a UE, with the footprint at least partially defined by the occupied transmission time, occupied transmission frequency, and transmission power. The footprint may be adjustable and/or selectable by the UE according to the current traffic needs of the UE and within limits set for the footprint via prior signaling from the base station to the UE. The actual footprint parameters/values for the UE's uplink data transmissions may be received by the base station as part of CG uplink control information (CG-UCI) received from the UE. The base station may receive the CG-UCI over resources configured according to additional parameter values transmitted to the UE via the prior signaling from the base station. The base station may further receive uplink data on resources configured according to the actual footprint values.

According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a measurement report is transmitted to a base station on a first path between the UE and the base station, wherein the measurement report indicates channel quality information on one or more potential paths between the UE and the base station. A path addition command is then received from the base station, wherein the path addition command indicates the UE to add a path from one or more potential paths as a second path. The second path between the UE and the base station is then established based on the path addition command.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for using integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes configured to provide multi-access edge computing (MEC) functionality. An IAB node may include a MEC functionality that includes an instance of an application configured for MEC. A UE using the application connects to the network through an access link with the IAB node and establishes a PDU session for traffic of the application with a core network (CN). The CN may determine that the traffic corresponds to the application, and that an instance of the application is present on the IAB node. Accordingly, the CN may instruct the IAB donor to instantiate a remote packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer and, in some cases, a remote service data application (SDAP) layer that are configured to route the traffic from the UE for the application to the instance of the application on the IAB node.
