    Abstract: Techniques discussed herein can facilitate suspended secondary cell group (SCG) state relaxed measurements. One example aspect is a user equipment (UE) device, comprising: a memory; an antenna; a transceiver connected to the antenna; and a processor configured to: while in a dual connectivity (DC) mode where the UE is connected to a master node (MN) associated with a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary node (SN) associated with a SCG comprising a primary secondary cell (PSCell), receive a signaling from a base station (BS) comprising an indication to enter a suspended state for the secondary cell group (SCG), in response to the signaling, enter the suspended state for the SCG, while in the suspended state for the SCG, perform relaxed measurements on the PSCell; and send, to the BS, a measurement report comprising a one or more measurement results from the relaxed measurements.

    Abstract: The functions of user equipment (UE), radio access network (RAN) devices, and core network (CN) devices in circumstances where a UE is expected to experience discontinuous coverage are described herein. A UE may send a CN a non-access stratum (NAS) message including a release request indicating that a UE is leaving coverage and assistance information. The CN may interrupt paging of the UE and resume the paging according to the assistance information. A UE may enter a low power usage mode upon leaving coverage, and may use one or more timers to determine when to check for coverage and send a mobility update message corresponding to the low power usage mode. A base station may receive, from a UE, a radio resource control (RRC) message comprising a release request and assistance information, send an RRC release message to the UE in response, and forward the assistance information to the CN.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for using integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes configured to provide multi-access edge computing (MEC) functionality are disclosed herein. An IAB node includes a distributed unit (DU) having a local application instance of a MEC-enabled application. The local application instance is configured for communication with a first user equipment (UE) connected to the IAB node. A mobile termination functionality (MT) of the IAB node uses a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer to transport data of the local application instance between the MT and an IAB donor. Further, data of the local application instance is transported between the UE and the IAB node via one of a variety of methods, including the use of a second PDCP layer at the DU (and optionally the use of service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) layers at each of the DU and the MT), and/or via sidelink.
