Abstract: Light-weight building panels based on mineral fibres A and thermoplastic binders contain 1 to 25% by weight, relative to A, of a copolymer B having a glass transition temperature from 70 to 105 DEG C and built up essentially from 50 to 98% by weight of methyl methacrylate I, 2 to 50% by weight of one or more acrylates II of C1-C8-alkanols and 0 to 2.5% by weight of one or more crosslinking monomers III as binders, 0 to 150% by weight of fillers C and, relative to B, 0.2 to 15% by weight of one or more amines F of the general formula in which R is C8-C18-alkyl or C8-C18-alkenyl, U and V are C2-C4-alkylene, X and Y are hydrogen, C1-C18-alkyl or C2-C18-alkenyl and n and m are integers from 0 to 10, or acid addition salts thereof.

Abstract: Aq. polymer dispersions (I) are claimed. (I) are obtd. by aq. emulsion polymerisation of a mixt. of (a) 50-80 wt.% vinyl 1-18C alkanoate(s) (unbranched), (b) 5-40 wt.% vinyl 1-20C alkanoate(s) (branched), (c) 0-45 wt.% 1-18C alkyl ester(s) of 2-6C alpha, beta-mono-unsatd. carboxylic acid and (d) 0-5 wt.% other comonomers, in the presence of dispersants (II) and radical initiators (III). (II) comprises (A) 0.5-3 wt.% polyether(s) derived from ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO), (B) 0.5-4 wt.% ethoxylated alkylphenol(s), (C) 0.5-3 wt.% ethoxylated polysaccharide(s) and (D) 0-4 wt.% sulphate half-ester(s) of ethoxylated alkylphenols and/or water soluble salts thereof (% w.r.t. monomer mixt.). USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in aq. or spray-dried form as additives for mineral constructional binders, esp. based on cement (claimed). Also claimed are mineral binders contg. polymer powder obtd. by spray drying (I).

Abstract: The invention relates to the production of mouldings based on a particulate material as additive and an aqueous binding agent containing an acrylate polymer, the additive being moistened with the binding agent, converted into the desired shape and subsequently dried, characterised in that a binding agent is employed whose binder is an acrylate polymer whose glass transition range is relatively high and which is built up from (A) predominantly methyl methacrylate, (B) a minor amount of (meth)acrylic acid, (C) if desired, a minor amount of an alkyl ester of acrylic acid and (D) if desired, a small amount of other specific polymerisable compounds.
