Abstract: The invention comprises compounds of the formulae: (R1R2N-CH2-CH2-SO2-O-) 2R, or wherein R1 and R2 represent hydrogen or an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or -CH2-CH2-SO2-O-R radical, or jointly with the nitrogen atom represent a heterocyclic radical, R represents a tetrahydronaphthyl radical or an aryl radical which may be optionally substituted, e.g. by alkyl, chlorine, bromine or carboalkoxy, and R3 represents an alkylene radical, and salts of such compounds, e.g. with hydrochloric, sulphuric, formic and acetic acids. The above compounds are prepared by reacting a , b -unsaturated sulphonic esters of the formula R-O-SO2-CH=CH2 with ammonia, hydrazine or an appropriate amine. Specification 910,377 is referred to.ALSO:A fungicidal composition comprises an aminoethyl sulphonic ester of the formul : - or wherein R1 and R2 represent hydrogen or an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or -CH2-CH2-SO2-O-R radical, or jointly with the nitrogen atom represent a heterocyclic radical, R represents a tetrahydronaphthyl radical or an aryl radical which may be optionally substituted, e.g. by alkyl, chlorine, bromine or carboalkoxy, and R3 represents an alkylene radical, or a salt of such compounds, e.g. with hydrochloric, sulphuric, formic or acetic acid, together with an inert solid or liquid diluent or carrier and, if desired, a dispersing or wetting agent. They may be used in admixture with other active ingredients, e.g. acaricdies, insecticides, ovicides, herbicides, fungicides and bactericides. Specification 910,377 is referred to.

Abstract: 1292910 Rendering textile materials absorptive BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 20 Feb 1970 [22 Feb 1969] 8184/70 Heading D1P Textile materials are rendered absorptive and rewettable by treatment with one or more surphito betaines of the general formula where R 1 is a C 8-17 aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, R 2 and R 3 are alkyl radicals having up to 5 C atoms, A is -NH- r -O-, X is a alkylene radical having up to 5 C atoms, and n is 0 or 1. Textile materials which may be treated are those containing organic fibres, e.g. cotton, regenerated cellulose, cellulose ester, polyamide., polyester, polyacrylonitrile, polyolefin, wool and silk. The sulphito betaines are preferably applied from aqueous solution by dipping padding or spraying so that the textile retains less than 1 % (preferably 0.005- 0.5%) of its dry weight of the substance applied. The treated textile may then be rinsed in water and dried.
