Abstract: Prodn. of alkyl omega-aminoalkanecarboxylates (I) comprises hydrogenation of corresp. omega-cyan cpds. (II) at elevated temp. and press. in presence of a supported Ni and/or Co catalyst in an NH3-contg. reaction medium. The catalyst used is obtd. by calcining at 200-600 degrees C, then reducing with H2 at 150-500 degrees C cpds. of formula (MgaNi2+bCo2+cAl2) CO3(OH)16. 4H2O (III). (a= 0-4; b = 0-6 and c = 0-6; a+b+c = 6). (I) are used to make hexanolactam or polyamides (by the process of DT 1495044). Higher yields are achieved and by-prod. formation is reduced catalysts have a long active lifetime.

Abstract: Pyrazine N-oxide derivs. of formula (I): (where R1 is an aliphatic residue and X is halogen) are new cpds. R1 is pref. 2-10C alkylene and X is pref. Cl. (I) are useful as intermediates for dyes and plant protection agents. Phenazine 5-oxide obtd. by drhydrochlorination and subsequent dehydrogenation of 1,9-dichloro-octahydrophenazine 5-oxide has nematocidal, acaricidal, fungicidal and herbicidal activity. Dichloro-phenazine N-oxides obtainable by dehydrogenation of (I) have fungicidal and herbicidal activity. Specific cpds. (I) include 1,9-dichloro-1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9-octahydro-phenazine 5-oxide. In an example, this cpd. is prepd. by conducting HCl into a CHCl3 soln. of 1-morpholino-6-oximino-cyclohexene.

Abstract: 2-Oximino-cycloalkanone cpds. of formula (I) are prepd. by reacting the oximino-cycloalkenes of formula (II) with water and acid. Previous process have given poor yields are required expensive starting matls. The above process is cheaper, simpler and gives better yields of purer prod.
