Abstract: 1,150,010. Copper complexes of azo dyes. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 30 Aug., 1966 [31 Aug., 1965], No. 38592/66. Heading C4P. The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein X is a substituted or unsubstituted sulphonamide group which contains at least one reactive hydrogen atom, Y is H, halogen, nitro, acylamino or alkyl of 1-6 carbons atoms, R is acyl which may be substituted but which is free of halogenopyrimidyl radicals or halogenoalkanoyl radicals of 2 or 3 carbon atoms and n is 1 or 2. The compounds are prepared by treating a compound of the formula where Z is OH or a substituent convertible into OH, under the metallizing conditions, e.g. methoxy, hydrogen, carboxyl or halogen, with a coppering agent, e.g. CuSO 4 , CuCl 2 or [Cu (NH 3 ) 4 ]SO 4 .

Abstract: 2: 1 Chromium and cobalt complexes of general formula in which Me is chromium or cobalt, -A-N = N-B- is a radical of a dye of formula and -A1-N = N-B1- is a dye of formula above or any mono or disazo dye or azomethine dye which contains a metallizable o,o1-dihydroxy, o,o1-hydroxycarboxy or o,o1-hydroxyamino azo group and at least one water-solubilizing sulphonic acid and/or sulphonic acid amide group and in which R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms (which may be substituted), R2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical having 1-4 carbon atoms, R3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical of 1-4 carbon atoms, a nitro group, or acylamino group or a halogen atom and n is 1 or 2, are prepared preferably by reacting a dye of the formula above with a cobalt or chromium metallizing agent at 60-130 DEG C., 0.5-0.65 moles of cobalt or chromium metallizing agent preferably being used. An equimolar mixture of a 1: 1 chromium compound of an azo or azomethane dye and a dye of formula below may also be used to prepare the new complexes which provide grey, green and navy colours on natural and synthetic polyamides and cellulose.

Abstract: Tetrazaporphin dyes containing sulphonic acid N-(primary amino alkyl)-amide groups are made by (a) reacting a tetrazaporphin sulphonic acid -1:2- alkylenimide or a tetrazaporphin sulphonamide which contains on the amido nitrogen a hydroxyalkyl radical esterified with a hydrogen halide or a strong oxygen-containing acid of sulphur or phosphorus, with ammonia or a reagent which yields ammonia, such as ammonium carbonate or bicarbonate or urea, or (b) reacting a tetrazaporphin sulphonamide having two hydrogen atoms on the amido nitrogen with a 1:2-alkylenimine or a primary halogenoalkylamine. The reactions may be conducted in aqueous or organic media and examples are given. The dyes dye or print leather, paper and textile materials of native and/or regenerated cellulose particularly in the presence of acid-reacting reagents or alkaline-reacting reagents. The tetrazaporphin alkylenimide and sulphonamide starting materials are made by reacting tetrazaporphin sulphonyl halides with alkylenimines, with haloalkylamines, with hydroxyalkylamines esterified with strong oxygen-containing acids of sulphur or phosphorus or with hydroxyalkylamines and then esterifying the product, for example, with thionyl chloride or bromide, sulphuric or chlorsulphonic acid, alkyl- or aryl-sulphonic acid halides or phosphoric or polyphosphoric acid.

Abstract: The invention comprises a process and compositions for dyeing, printing and/or fluorescent brightening of textile materials using a dye or fluorescent brightening agent containing at least one reactive hydrogen atom, or a group which is capable of forming one or more such atoms during the process preferably attached by a nitrogen, sulphur or oxygen atom, and a heterocyclic compound substituted by at least three epoxy groups or by two epoxy groups and at least one CH2 = CH-CO- group or a group convertible into such a group during the process, and optionally an alkaline reacting agent, a dispersing agent and/or a protective colloid, and/or one or more dyeing and/or printing auxiliaries. The reactive hydrogen atoms are found in the following groups which characterize the dyes employed, primary or secondary amino groups, -NH- groups in heterocyclic combination, sulphonamide groups, sulphonic alkylamide groups, sulphonic arylamide groups, carboxylic amide groups, carboxylic alkylamide groups, hydroxyl and/or sulphhydryl groups. Water soluble or insoluble dyes may be used including substantive and reactive dyes. The heterocyclic compounds used are those preferably having the formula:- in which X is an organic radical containing an epoxy group or is convertible into an epoxy group, and Y is X-O-CH2-CH2- or is CH2=CH- or a radical convertible into one of these radicals. A group capable of being converted to an epoxy group is the halohydrin group and groups capable of conversion to CH2=CH-CO- include b -chloropropionyl groups and quaternary groups of type Conventional dyeing processes are used but preferably the material is treated with dye liquors or printing pastes containing the alkaline reacting agent, the dye and the heterocyclic compound as above. Materials processed are made from natural and regenerated cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol cellulose esters, polyacrylonitrile and its copolymers, linear polyesters, wool, natural silk and linear polyamides. Specifications 628,821, 768,470, 869,549 and 900,372 are referred to.
