Abstract: Graft copolymers comprising a crosslinked, saturated, elastomeric grafting base and a hard shell are prepared by incorporating thermolabile comonomers, as copolymerized units, into the grafting base during the preparation of the latter, in particular at a conversion of from 50 to 90%. During the subsequent grafting of the shell, the conditions used are such that the thermolabile comonomers incorporated as copolymerized units into the grafting base decompose into free radicals. This gives graft copolymers having improved mechanical properties, which copolymers also prove advantageous for the preparation of mixtures with other thermoplastics compatible with the graft copolymers.

Abstract: Polymers (P) in the form of particles with an average diameter (d50) of 0.03-100 microns are obtained by forming an emulsion (E) from monomer(s) (M), water and protective colloid(s) and/or emulsifier(s) under the action of high shearing forces and then polymerizing (E) with a radical initiator in presence of a stable N-oxyl radical. Independent claims are also included for (a) particulate polymers (P) obtained by this process; (b) thermoplastic molding materials (F) containing 1-99 wt.% (P), 1-99 wt.% matrix polymer with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of more than 25 deg C, 0-70 wt.% elastomer component based on a rubber-elastic polymer with a Tg below 0 deg C and 0-50 wt.% conventional additives; (c) a process for the production of (F) by mixing the components in a mixer and processing at 130-350 deg C; and (d) molded products and film made from (F).

(B), of a casing grafted onto the graft copolymer, from (b21) 50-90% of a vinylaromatic monomer, (b22) 50-5% of (meth)acrylonitrile, a 1-20C alkyl (meth)acrylate, maleic anhydride, (meth)acrylamide and/or a vinyl alkyl ether with 1-8C in the alkyl gp., as polar, copolymerisable monomer; (C) 0-50% of a fibrous or particulate filler or reinforcing agent; and (D) 0-30% of the usual aids and auxiliaries.

Abstract: Process for producing shaped sintered parts containing finely divided carbon by shaping a mixture of a) a ceramic and/or metallic powder and b) polyoxymethylene and/or a copolymer containing a predominant proportion of oxymethylene units to give a green body, removing the binder by treatment with a gaseous acid, pyrolysis and sintering, with there being added to the mixture of a) and b) a thermoplastic c) which, at temperatures of from 90 to 220 DEG C, is molten, miscible with polyoxymethylene and stable and does not undergo a crosslinking reaction with formaldehyde, and also a composition for this process.
