    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of prussic acid, com prising the catalytic dehydration of gaseous formamide to give a product mix ture, containing prussic acid, water, formamide, ammonia, CO and high-boiler s, separation of the product mixture by condensation of a condensate from th e product mixture which contains water, formamide, high-boilers and possibly ammonia and prussic acid, and the partial or complete recycling of the cond ensate to a heat exchanger downstream of the reactor.
