    Abstract: In a process for purifying an organic solvent for the absorption of maleic anhydride from a gaseous mixture, in which the maleic anhydride is separated off from the solvent, a substream is taken from the solvent stream, this substream is distilled and returned to the solvent circuit, the proposed improvement comprises separating off a low-boiling fraction and a high-boiling fraction from the fraction consisting essentially of purified solvent and feeding the fraction consisting essentially of purified solvent back into the solvent stream.

    Abstract: Un proceso para preparar anhídrido maleico oxidando n-butano en fase gaseosa bajo catálisis heterogénea con gases que contienen oxígeno sobre un catalizador que contiene vanadio, fósforo y oxígeno en una unidad de reactor a una temperatura en el intervalo desde 350 hasta 500ºC, separando el anhídrido maleico formado para formar una corriente gaseosa que contiene n-butano no convertido y agua, y recirculando por lo menos una parte de n-butano no convertido a la unidad del reactor, caracterizado porque se alimenta a la unidad del reactor una corriente de entrada que tenga una concentración de n-butano desde 0,5 hasta 1,5% en volumen y una concentración de oxígeno desde 5 hasta 21% en volumen, se establece una presión a la entrada de la unidad del reactor desde 0,4 a 2 MPa abs, y se convierte desde 40 hasta 100% del n-butano de la corriente de entrada por paso en el reactor.

    Abstract: Maleic anhydride production by gas-phase oxidation of n-butane with oxygen-containing gases on a heterogeneous vanadium-, phosphorus- and oxygen-containing (VPO) catalyst at 350-500[deg]C with recycling of unconverted n-butane is such that (a) the stream entering the reactor has n-butane and O 2 concentrations of 0.5-1.5 and 5-21 volume % respectively; (b) pressure at the inlet is 0.4-2 MPa abs.; and (c) 40-100% of the n-butane is converted. Maleic anhydride (MA) production by gas- phase oxidation of n-butane with oxygen-containing gases on a heterogeneous vanadium-, phosphorus- and oxygen-containing (VPO) catalyst at 350-500[deg]C with MA separation by forming a gas stream containing unconverted n-butane and water and recycling part of the n-butane to the reactor unit is such that (a) the stream entering the reactor has n-butane and oxygen concentrations of 0.5-1.5 and 5-21 volume % respectively; (b) the pressure at the inlet is 0.4-2 MPa abs.; and (c) 40-100% of the n-butane is converted.
