Abstract: A supported catalyst (I) containing 0.1-20 wt.% rhenium and 0.05-10 wt.% platinum (with respect to the total weight of the catalyst) is prepared by: (a) treatment of the optionally pretreated support with a solution of a rhenium compound; (b) drying and heating in a reducing atmosphere at 80-600 degreesC and; (c) impregnation with a solution of a platinum compound and drying. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of alcohols by catalytic hydrogenation of carbonyl compounds using the catalyst (I).

Abstract: Método para la producción de catalizadores soportados (catalizador K), que incluyen un soporte (soporte T) y un componente activo (activador A), donde a) se produce un precursor de catalizador, en lo cual sobre un soporte elegido de entre el grupo consistente en Al2O3, aluminosilicatos, Ga2O3, SiO2, GeO2, TiO2, ZrO2, SnO2 y mezclas de los compuestos previamente mencionados, se coloca un activador común para la catálisis de reacciones de metátesis (precursor de activador), el cual incluye compuestos que contienen elementos de los grupos secundarios V, VI y VII (etapa a) b) se pone en contacto el precursor de catalizador producido según la etapa (a) con una olefina C3 a C12 a 10 una temperatura entre -20 y 550°C (etapa b) y c) el precursor de catalizador producido según la etapa (b) es atemperado en una atmósfera de gas inerte a una temperatura de 410 a 850°C (etapa c).
