Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that there is a possibility that a mechanical switch is damaged because a heavy-current is caused to flow when a semiconductor switch for synchronization is turned on if an electronic flash having a high voltage synchronization circuit is connected to the mechanical switch. SOLUTION: A camera to which a lighting system for emitting illuminating light can be attached is provided with: a first semiconductor switch element 38 which has a current retention characteristic and is turned on in response to a synchronization signal for making the lighting system emit light to make the lighting system emit light; a second semiconductor switch element 40 which is connected in parallel to the first semiconductor switch element, whose voltage when turned on is lower than the terminal voltage of the first semiconductor switch element when turned on and which does not have a current retention characteristic; and a controlling means 30 for turning on the second semiconductor switch element and subsequently turning off the second semiconductor switch element according to the lapse of time after the first semiconductor switch element is turned on.
