Abstract: A liquid container (1) detachably mountable to a mounting portion (105) of an inkjet recording apparatus, the mounting portion having an electrical contact portion (152) and a locking portion (156), said liquid container comprising: a casing for containing liquid; engaging portion (6) provided opposed to a first side of said casing, said engaging portion being engageable with the locking portion; a latching lever (3) elastically deformable and having said engaging portion; a supply port (7) provided at a second side of said casing and capable of supplying the liquid to an ink jet head; an electrical contact (102) electrically contactable to the electrical contact portion (152); a memory (104) for storing information relating to said liquid container, wherein the information is capable of being transmitted to the inkjet recording apparatus through said electrical contact and is capable of being transmitted from the inkjet recording apparatus through said electrical contact; and substrate (100) having said memory and said electrical contact, wherein said substrate (100) is located adjacent to said first side and said second side and is inclined relative to said first side and said second side, and wherein, by rotating said liquid container relative to the mounting about a third side which is opposite said first side, said engaging portion (6) is engaged with the locking portion (156) and said electrical contact (102) provided on said substrate (100) is connected with the electrical contact portion (152).
