Abstract: La presente invencion se refiere a un polimero arrastrado proporcionado en forma de una pelicula, que comprende: a. un polimero base; b. un agente de liberacion de dioxido de cloro gaseoso que comprende una sal de clorito, presente de 20% a 65% en peso del polimero arrastrado; c. un agente canalizante, tal como un poliglicol, polietilenglicol, entre otros, que forma canales a traves del polimero arrastrado. Dicho polimero arrastrado por gramo libera el dioxido de cloro gaseoso en una concentracion de 3 ppm a 1000 ppm. El polimero arrastrado de la invencion inhibe o previene el crecimiento de microbios en un envase o recipiente cerrado en el que se guarda o almacena un producto, tal como un producto alimenticio.

Abstract: Disclosed are antimicrobial releasing agents, methods of preparing the antimicrobial releasing agents, and entrained polymers containing antimicrobial releasing agents. The antimicrobial releasing agent is prepared with an acidified hydrophilic material with a pH below 3.5 as a carrier, an active compound, and a trigger. The entrained polymer of the invention releases an antimicrobial agent in gas form, such as ClO2, optionally over a range of concentration from 150 ppm to 1800 ppm per gram of the entrained polymer under certain tested conditions.

Abstract: The invention relates to flip-top moisture tight containers which are simple to open and close repeatedly and which include two or more seals in series between the lid and the body which reliably provide moisture tightness after several cycles of opening and closing. Containers according to the present invention may be utilized for, e.g., pharmaceuticals, probiotics, nutraceuticals, diagnostic test strips and other moisture sensitive items. The moisture tight container comprises: a. a body defining an interior configured for housing product, and an opening leading to the interior; b. a lid 119 that is connected to the body by a hinge, the lid being movable with respect to the body between a closed position in which the lid covers the opening and is mated to the body, and an opened position in which the lid is not mated to the body; c. the body and the lid including a plurality of seals therebetween and in series when the lid is in the closed position; d. the plurality of seals including at least a first seal requiring opening force to transition from the closed position to the opened position, and a second seal in combination with the first seal not requiring more than the opening force to transition from the closed position to the opened position; e. the first seal being formed by mating incompressible thermoplastic-to-thermoplastic sealing surfaces, the first seal including an undercut of the body relative to a central axis of the body; f. the second seal being formed by mating elastomer-to-thermoplastic sealing surfaces, wherein the elastomer-to-thermoplastic sealing surfaces include an elastomer, that is compressible and resilient, formed in the lid or on the body, with multi-shot injection molding.

Abstract: Abstract An antimicrobial releasing agent which releases chlorine dioxide gas comprising a metal chlorite, a carrier material having a pH below 3.5 e.g. acidified silica gel and a trigger comprising a hygroscopic compound e.g. calcium chloride, which may be triggered by contact with a selected material e.g. moisture. Typically, due to the hygroscopicity of the trigger, moisture is pooled and collected which then initiates the reaction with the active compound leading to the release of chlorine dioxide. The chlorine dioxide release profile may be controlled for a given application. A system and method is also disclosed for inhibiting or preventing the growth of microbes and/or for killing microbes in a closed package or container in which a good (optionally a food product) is held or stored. The system and method optionally include use of an entrained polymer article, preferably a film that includes an antimicrobial releasing agent and channelling agent. In one embodiment, an entrained polymer may be a three phase formulation including 35% to 60% by weight of the antimicrobial releasing agent in the form of the powdered mixture described above, 30% to 50% by weight a base polymer (such as ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)), and 5% to 12% by weight a channelling agent (such as polyethylene glycol (PEG)). The base polymer and the channelling agent are not particularly limited.
