Abstract: Flowing waters are dosed with acrolein to prevent excessive plant and algal growth. In order to avoid transport of acrolein, the process according to the invention, using the apparatus according to the invention, generates acrolein at the site of use by deacetylization of an acrolein acetal in the presence of an aqueous mineral acid, for which no electrical energy is required. According to the invention an acrolein acetal solution and an aqueous mineral acid solution are transported from pressure-resistant storage vessels (1) and (2) into a mixing chamber (11) by applying a pressure from a pressurized gas cylinder (3) and the mixture is passed through a deacetalization reactor; the reactor to be used comprises a tubular (14) and a vessel-like (15) part.

Abstract: The direct dosing of aqueous solutions with acrolein as a microbiocide is problematic because of the associated laborious safety measures and the hitherto known use of reaction mixtures from the deacetalisation has proven not to be very economical. … According to the invention, aqueous solutions can be dosed in a simple, safe and economical manner with acrolein at a sufficient concentration level to be active as a biocide by cleaving acrolein acetals in the aqueous phase in the presence of a strongly acid deacetalisation catalyst into acrolein and the alcohol component, continuously removing the resulting acrolein from the deacetalisation mixture and transferring the acrolein into the aqueous solution to be dosed using an inert gas stream or a liquid jet pump with the aqueous solution to be dosed as the jet liquid.

Abstract: Pentaerythritol is treated with a strongly alkaline reacting substance at temperatures ranging approximately from 180 to 220.degree.C. The pentaerythritol thus treated serves as a costabllizer for polyvinyl containing chloride and as such it has excellent properties. Not only can the pentaerythritol thus treated be homogeneously incorporated in polyvinyl chloride without difficulties but it has an effect which is so favourable that the application of a relatively small amount of this costablilzer is sufficient.

Abstract: There is disclosed a process for the production of a pigment-synthetic resin concentrate containing an organic solvent soluble polymer and carbon black having quicker distributability in organic media such as lacquer binding media, printing inks, etc., such concentrates being especially suitable for the production of molded parts, castings, films and/or synthetic fibers, the process comprising continuously homogenizing in a mixer powdery pigment and powdery synthetic resin jointly with an organic solvent in a given case also containing plasticizer, stabilizer and/or dispersing acid, dispersing the pigment in the mixture, removing the solvent from the dispersion, comminuting the resulting pigment-synthetic resin concentrated and grinding the product.
