Abstract:
A side airbag module for use in a motor vehicle. The module includes a gas generator attached to a folded airbag. The folded airbag unfolds into an interior of the motor vehicle when the gas generator is activated. A large guide fin is disposed within an interior of the airbag such that the airbag is disposed around the guide fin. The guide fin is connected to a component attached to the motor vehicle.
Abstract:
A system, method, and apparatus for reducing the video decoder processing requirements for rewinding a HITS stream are presented herein. During rewind of a HITS stream, the video decoder builds a clean reference picture. The clean reference picture is built by decoding each of the P-pictures in the EP-EP segment. However, because the P-pictures are not displayed, the decoder does not decode the portion of the P-picture below the last intracoded slice. The decoder can build the clean reference picture without decoding the portions of the P-pictures below the last intracoded slice because the subsequent pictures do not use the said portions for prediction.
Abstract:
A tool having a drilling portion and a tapping portion may be used to form female threaded holes in bone. The tool may include a shaft having a drill tap portion on one end. In the drill tap portion, a tap section may be located adjacent to a drill section. The drill section may be configured to form an opening in bone while the tap section may be configured to form female threads in the walls of a hole in bone. The drill tap portion may further include a spiral flute to aid in the removal of debris. The tool may further include a stop portion configured to limit the depth of the tapped hole to a predetermined maximum depth that may correspond to the length of a particular fastener such as a bone screw. A handle attachment portion may be provided to facilitate the use of a drill.
Abstract:
A system, method, and apparatus for reducing the video decoder processing requirements are presented herein. During a rewind operation, a reference picture for a group of pictures is decoded and stored into a reference frame buffer. By storing a reference picture for the group, the reference picture need not be decoded to display each picture in the group during the rewind operation.
Abstract:
One embodiment of an image rotator includes an image reversion structure that rotates an image by a predetermined number of degrees, and securement structure adapted to removably secure the image reversion structure on a projector.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for image enhancement are disclosed. The system includes a light source adapted to generate a light beam and a light integration unit positioned along a light path of the light beam. A light intensity modulator is positioned between the light source and an exit of the light integration unit.
Abstract:
An item monitoring system and method of using an item monitoring system. The present invention relates more particularly to an item monitoring system including a sensor, that senses a plurality of items in a first amount of space associated with the sensor and that senses both items containing metal and items containing no metal, a communications network, and a computer that receives information from the sensor through the communications network. The present invention also relates more particularly to a method of monitoring items to determine the number of items within a first amount of space associated with the sensor.
Abstract:
An upright wet extractor includes a base assembly, a manipulative handle pivotally attached to the base assembly, and a motor driven agitator brush. A cleaning solution dispensing tank is removably attached to the handle assembly by a pivotable latch member. In a floor cleaning mode, cleaning solution is selectively supplied by gravity from the dispensing tank to a spray nozzle through a supply tube controlled by a pinch valve. In an attachment hose cleaning mode, cleaning solution is selectively supplied by a motor driven pump from the dispensing tank to an attachment hose spray nozzle controlled by a trigger valve. A suction motor/fan assembly is carried by the base assembly which is selectively in fluid communication with a floor nozzle in the floor mode and a hose nozzle in the attachment mode. Conversion between floor mode and attachment mode is carried out by manual operation of a knob of a multi-functional valve/switch assembly. The valve switch assembly includes a valve member which diverts the flow of working air and a micro-switch which appropriately activates and deactivates the agitator brush motor and the pump motor. A recovery tank assembly which both separates liquid from air and stores the recovered liquid is removably secured below the suction pump and can be removed through the rear end of the base assembly. The suction motor/fan assembly includes a cooling fan which draws cooling air over both the pump motor and the motor of the suction motor/fan assembly.
Abstract:
An optofluidic photobioreactor including an optical waveguide having an input, characterized by an evanescent optical field confined along an outer surface of the optical waveguide produced by radiation propagating in the optical waveguide, means for inputting light to the input of the optical waveguide, and a selected photosynthetic microorganism disposed substantially within the evanescent field. A method for optically exciting a photosynthetic microorganism for generating a biofuel, a biofuel precursor, or a biomass from the optically-excited photosynthetic microorganism involves irradiating the photosynthetic microorganism attached to the surface of the waveguide with an evanescent optical field from optical radiation propagating in the optical waveguide, and driving photosynthesis in the microorganism by the evanescent optical field.
Abstract:
A server may be used to handle at least some of processing of content that is based on web access operations initiated in a set-top box (STB), wherein one or more links between the server and the STB that are used to forward multimedia broadcasts are configured to free bandwidth for communicating at least a portion of the processed content to the STB. The bandwidth may be freed based on switched digital video (SDV) and/or dedicated IPTV channels or systems. The broadcast links may be reconfigured based on monitoring of multimedia broadcast access by the STB and/or one or more other STBs. The freed bandwidth in the multimedia broadcast links may be configured for unicast transport of processed content to a specific STB, or may be configured for multicast transport of the processed content to a plurality of STBs.
