The rod (13) is brought into contact with the edge of the template (20) and a transmitter/receiver (25) also mounted on the trolley (12) detects reflection from a mirror (26) through a template hole (22). This enables the coordinate of the hole to be stored and used for drilling copies of the template.

    Abstract: The marking of the position for a bevel or machining groove is by a spot of light projected onto the surface of the glass. The light source (21) is a diode laser at the end of a tube mounted parallel to the axis of rotation (A1) of the cutting tool (12D). The opposite end of the tube carries a mirror (28) that directs the marking beam at right angles to the axis of rotation. The glass machining tools are mounted to one side of the axis of the lens (10) holder (14,14') and are driven in rotation on a shaft (15) that lies parallel to the axis of the lens holder. The lens can be moved backward and forward relative to the machining tool. The light source can be moved backward and forward with movement of the machining tools.
