    Abstract: The device determines the subjective equivalence of shades of two illuminated areas (2,3) of equal luminance. The shade of the first area (3) results from the addition in related amounts of complementary fluxes of two monochromatic primaries, defining the limits of an explored spectrum. The shade of the second area provides a monochromatic reference situated in a mid-zone of this explored spectrum. The areas are illuminated by LED's, each area being constituted by the emitting surface of one diode. The first area diode is adapted to emit one or the other primary respectively in response to two complementary rectangular pulse trains to form the ratio of fluxes resulting from regulation (5b) of the cyclic ratio of the pulse train. The emitting areas of the diodes are viewed through an eye-piece (1). The complementary pulse trains are produced by a generator comprising a clock (7), a cyclic counter (6) and a monostable (5) having two complementary outputs (5c,5d).
