Abstract: An optical component 10 has a plurality of optical fibers comprising a first core 12, a second core 14 formed around the first core 12, and a clad 16 formed around the second core 14, arrayed regularly so that the fiber axes may be parallel to each other, having an incident plane 10a cut obliquely to the fiber axis and an exit plane 10b cut vertically to the fiber axis. The refractive index n2 of the second core 14 is smaller than the refractive index n1 of the first core 12, and the refractive index nc, of the clad 16 is smaller than the refractive index n2 of the second core 14, and further the refractive index n1 of the first core 12, the refractive index n2 of the second core 14, and the refractive index nc of the clad 16 satisfy the relation of n1  - n2  = n2  - nc  .

Abstract: A fiber optics device of this invention includes first (2) and second (3) optical members. The first optical member (2) is obtained by integrating a plurality of optical fibers (21) of the first type by bundling, and has first (23) and second (22) end faces formed obliquely to the optical axis of the optical fibers of the first type and parallel to each other. The second optical member (3) is obtained by integrating a plurality of optical fibers (31) of the second type by bundling, and has first (32) and second (33) end faces formed obliquely to the optical axis of the optical fibers of the second type and parallel to each other. The optical fibers of the second (3) type have a larger numerical aperture than that of the optical fibers of the first type. The first end (32) face of the second (3) optical member is bonded (23) to the second end (22) face of the first (2) optical member.

Abstract: As shown in Fig. 1, an optical device 10 comprises an input optical member 11, in which a plurality of optical fibers 14 are arranged parallel to each other and integrally formed, having an entrance surface 11a and an exit surface 11b which intersect an optical axis at an angle of 15 DEG and at an angle of 30 DEG , respectively; and an output optical member 12, in which a plurality of optical fibers are arranged parallel to each other and integrally formed, having an entrance surface 12a and an exit surface 12b which intersect an optical axis at an angle of 7.5 DEG and at an angle of 90 DEG , respectively. Here, the exit surface 11b of the input optical member 11 and the entrance surface 12a of the output optical member 12 are in contact with each other, whereas the angle formed between the optical axis of the input optical member 11 and the optical axis of the output optical member 12 is an angle of 22.5 DEG which is the difference between 30 DEG and 7.5 DEG mentioned above.

Abstract: A fiber optics device (1) of this invention includes first and second assemblies. The first assembly (2) is obtained by integrating a plurality of optical fibers (21) by bundling, and has first and second end faces (22,23) formed obliquely to the optical axis of the optical fibers (21) contained in it. The second end face (23) has small recesses and projections to scatter light emerging from it. The second assembly (3) is obtained by integrating a plurality of optical fibers (31) by bundling, and has first and second end faces (32,33) substantially intersecting perpendicularly to the optical axis of the optical fibers (31) contained in it. The first end face (32) of the second assembly (3) is bonded to the second end face (23) of the first assembly (2). As a result, optical loss occurring at the bonding portion between the assemblies can be decreased.
