Injection moulded articles are made from block copolyesters of high M.W. containing from 10% to 98% by weight of ethylene glycol terephthalate units and from 90% to 2% by weight of 1,4-dimethylol cyclohexane terephthalate units. The block copolyester may also contain organic or inorganic nucleating agents such as calcium carbonate, aluminium silicate or talc and fillers such as glass fibre, asbestos and graphite. The copolyester particles may be coated with paraffin wax or another wax. Reduced specific viscosity data are specified.

    Abstract: 1283637 Polyester moulding composition FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 6 July 1970 [4 July 1969] 32550/70 Heading C3R A thermoplastic moulding composition comprises (a) a linear saturated polyester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and optionally up to 10% by weight of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, or of a hydroxy carboxylic acid, with a saturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diol, (b) from 0À05 to 2% by weight, based on the polyester, of an inert, inorganic solid material having a particle size of less than 5 microns, and (c) from 0À02 to 8% by weight, based on the polyester, of an alkali metal paraffin monosulphonate R 1 SO 3 M in which R 1 is a straight or branched chain alkyl group having 8 to 30 carbon atoms, and M is an alkali metal, and which may contain up to 0À5% by weight, based on the sulphonate, of an alkali metal paraffin disulphonate MO 3 SR 2 SO 3 M, in which R 2 is a straight or branched chain alkylene group having 8 to 30 carbon atoms, and derived from the same paraffin and alkali metal as the mono-sulphonate, or from 0À02 to 8% by weight based on the polyester, of an alkali metal olefin sulphonate R-CH=CHSO 3 M in which R is a straight or branched chain alkyl or aralkyl group having 6 to 28 carbon atoms. Component (b) may be glass powder, talc, kaolin, magnesium oxide, antimony trioxide, titanium dioxide, aluminium oxide, calcium carbonate or calcium magnesium aluminium silicate. The polyester is preferably polyethylene terephthalate or polycyclohexane- 1,4-dimethylol terephthalate.
