    Abstract: A highly covering disazo pigment having the chemical constitution WHICH IS CHARACTERIZED BY A SPECIFIC SURFACE OF 12 - 30, PREFERABLY 15 TO 25, M2/G, A MAXIMUM OF THE GRAIN SIZE DISTRIBUTION OF BETWEEN 250 AND 500 NM AND A PROPORTION OF THESE GRAIN SIZES IN THE TOTAL DISTRIBUTION OF 35 - 65 PERCENT, PREFERABLY 45 - 60 PERCENT. This new pigment form is obtained by heating the pigment obtained after coupling with a solvent which is immiscible with water or miscible with water to a limited degree only to temperatures above 100 DEG C.

In the products X groups can be interconverted, e.g. -CH 2 CH 2 OH may be esterified to -CH 2 CH 2 OSO 3 H and this may be converted to -CH 2 CH 2 N(C 2 H 5 ) 2 , or to -CH=CH 2 which may in turn be converted to The novel dyestuffs may be used for the dyeing and printing of wool, silk, leather, synthetic polyamide fibres and native or regenerated cellulose fibres.

    Abstract: Using the method of azoic dyeing, fast blue dyeings are obtained when the bis-diazotable diazo component used is a compound of the general formula (1) (1) in which R is a straight-chain or branched alkyl group of 3 to 5 carbon atoms or a (C1-C3)-alkoxy-(C2-C4)-alkyl group having straight-chain and/or branched alkyl groups of in total 3 to 5 carbon atoms, and the coupling component used is a compound conforming to the general formula (2) (2) in which Z stands for a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom or an alkoxy group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and Aryl denotes a phenyl radical or a 1-naphthyl radical which can be substituted by 1, 2 or 3 substituents from the group consisting of halogen, nitro, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and the coupling reaction and dye formation on the fiber are carried out at a pH value between 4 and 10.

    Abstract: bis-Diazo compounds of the formula (1) in which R is a straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkoxyalkyl radical of 3 to 5 carbon atoms and Y is an anti-diazotate radical -N=N-O ME , in which ME represents a potassium atom or sodium atom, or is the radical -N=N-Z, in which Z represents the radical of a water-soluble aliphatic or aromatic amine containing a sulpho and/or carboxyl group are prepared by bisdiazotising a diamine of the formula (2) in which R has the abovementioned meaning in an aqueous, strong, non-oxidising inorganic or organic acid with an alkali metal nitrite at temperatures of about -10 DEG C to about +40 DEG C and converting the bisdiazonium compound formed either into the anti-bisdiazotate of the formula (1) mentioned where Y is -N=N-O ME or into a bisdiazoamino compound of the formula (1) where Y is -N=N-Z in a manner known per se, followed by precipitation.
