Abstract: An objective of the present invention is to provide a method for embedding additional information into a video movie without substantially having an influence on the compression efficiency of the video movie and also without substantially causing degradation of the picture quality. ÄCONSTITUTIONÜ Specify at least one embedding region in the frame of the video movie for embedding information, and determine a type of interframe prediction of the embedding region in correspondence with information to be embedded by referring to an embedding rule where a content of data to be embedded is caused to correspond to the type of interframe prediction of the embedding region. It is desirable that the frame in which the embedding region exists is a bidirectionally predictive-coded frame.

Abstract: Additional information (eg copyright information) is embedded into audio data such that the sonic modification caused by the embedding is not perceptible to humans, whilst the additional information can be precisely recovered after audio processing. For embedding the audio data is transformed into frequency components 120 , and for each frequency component the modification level of the audio data into which the additional information 180 can be embedded is determined 130 . A mask is generated 160/170 and used for embedding the additional information in the determined modification level 140 . The modified frequency components of the audio data are then converted back into audio data using an inverse transformation 190 . In a detector (Fig. 2) the audio data is transformed into frequency components 220 and the start point of the additional information is determined 250 . A detection mask is thence produced 270/280 and used to detect the additional information 260 from the determined start point in the transformed audio data.

Abstract: The invention provides a digital camera which embeds authentication informat ion for detecting the identity of a photographed image into the image. By supplying the authentication information integrally with image data, the verifier is enabl ed to verify the image data without saving the authentication information. By converting the light inputted through an optical system 21 to an electric signal, a CCD 22 outputs an anal og signal of an image. A signal processor 23 generates a digital signal of the image is r esponse to the analog signal. A digital camera has: a region dividing unit 24 for dividing the image into a first image region and a second image region in response to the digital si gnal; authentication information generator 29 for generating authentication inform ation from data in the first image region; encryptor 30 for encrypting the authentication in formation; hiding means 25 for embedding the encrypted authentication information into the sec ond image region by operating the data in the second image region; and region combinin g means 26 for combining the first image region in the image with the second image regi on in which the authentication information is embedded.

Abstract: To hide message information into media information in frequency space. With this , it is the objective of the present invention to provide a data hiding method which has hig h resistance to removal or change of message information embedded into media information and which continues to effectively maintain hidden message information even when signal pr ocessing is performed by employing a frequency filter. In order to hide message information (m) into media information (M), the frequency transform of the message information (m) an d the media information (M) are performed, and frequency spectra f1 and f2 are obtaine d. Next, from the frequency spectrum f2 of the message information (m), a region containi ng feature frequency components representative of the features of the message information ( m) in real space is extracted as the base region B. Then, n copies of the base region B are generated, and in frequency space, the n copies are dispersedly arranged. Also, by making t he frequency components other than that equal to zero, a frequency spectrum f3 is generated a s intermediate information. Finally, the frequency spectrum f3 and the frequency s pectrum f, are added, and by performing the inverse frequency transform of the result, the message information (m) can be hidden into the media information (M).
