Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject composition capable of imparting adequate firm texture to hair in a short-time treatment, also highly sustainable in its effect. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition essentially containing (A) pref. 0.1-10 (esp. 1-7) wt.% of a reducing agent, esp. thioglycolic acid, ammonium thioglycolate, N-acetyl-L-cysteine or sodium bisulfite and (B) pref. 0.1-10 (esp. 1-5) wt.% of a benzophenonesulfonic acid, e.g. a compound of the formula (A -A are such that at least one is sulfonic acid group or its salt group, the rest being H, halogen, OH, COOH, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkoxy or acyl), esp. oxybenzophenonesulfonic acid, dihydroxydimethoxybenzophenonedisulfonic acid or a salt thereof. It may be that these components A and B be prepared separately, i.e., the 1st agent containing the component A at the above concentration and the 2nd agent containing the component B at the above concentration; and the hair be first treated with the 1st agent followed by treatment with the 2nd agent.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new composition capable of giving excellent stiffness and rigidity to a keratinous fiber by combining the first agent containing an organic solvent and an acid with an inorganic cationic substance capable of forming a water insoluble or sparingly soluble salt by bonding to the acid. CONSTITUTION:A two agent type treatment composition for a keratinous fiber, obtained by combining the first agent composed of an organic solvent such as ethanol or benzyl alcohol and an acid such as phosphoric acid or tartaric acid and having pH2-5 with the second agent containing an inorganic cationic substance (e.g. calcium chloride) capable of forming a water-insoluble or sparingly soluble salt by bonding to the acid and having >=pH5. If further adding a direct dye to the first agent, stiffness and rigidity can be more improved and various colors can be given to the keratinous fiber at the same time by permeation of the direct dye into the keratinous fiber.

Hair is swelled by the ingredient (A) and the ingredient (B) is permeated into the hair to impart sustained conditioning effects to the hair for a long period.
