Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a new fatty acid amide having uniform dispersibility to water, satisfying demanding characteristics of cosmetic base, emulsifying agent, lubricant, etc., such as compatibility with various solvents, producible in high purity and in high yield from inexpensive and readily obtainable raw materials. CONSTITUTION:A compound shown 1 [R is 4-27C branched alkyl, preferably group shown by formula II (m and n are 0-20 integer, m+n is 1-20, preferably 20-16 and m is 1-24 integer and m is 0)] such as N-tris (hydroxymethyl)methyl- isostearic acid amide. The compound is obtained by reacting a compound shown by formula 3 with a compound shown by formula 4 to give a compound shown by formula 5 and then hydrolyzing this compound in a mixed solvent of 1-4C alcohol and water.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a hair cosmetic having excellent conditioning property by using a specific modified solid silicone polymer, a cationic surfactant, an oil and fat, an organic liquid containing at least one hydroxyl group in one molecule and compatible with water, and water as essential components. CONSTITUTION:The objective hair cosmetic contains (A) a modified silicone polymer containing one or more alkoxy groups in the molecule and having a melting point of >=30 deg.C [e.g. a compound of formula ((l) is 1-100; (m) is 1-50)], (B) a cationic surfactant (e.g. a quaternary ammonium salt), (C) an oil and fat (e.g. liquid paraffin and lanolin), (D) an organic liquid having one or more hydroxyl groups in one molecule and compatible with water (e.g. polyhydric alcohol) and (E) water. The hair treated with the hair cosmetic is free from oily feeling even in wet state or dried state, has excellent smoothness and flexibility, gives bulky and light texture and moist feeling and exhibits excellent antistatic effect. The cosmetic has excellent storage stability.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic having excellent humidity retentive property, spreading property in coating, giving fresh feeling without stickiness and exhibiting excellent emulsifying stability containing specific long chain alkyl trimethylol as active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:One or more long chain alkyl trimethylols expressed by formula I (R is 8-22C saturated or unsaturated alkyl), preferably long chain alkyl trimethylol expressed by formula II such as trimethylol isoheptadecane, etc., (m and n are 0-19 with a proviso that m+n=7-19) are contained in the aimed cosmetic as active ingredients. For instance, aldehyde corresponding to formula IV is subjected to Cannizzaro reaction with formaldehyde expressed by formula III in a suitable solvent, in the presence of base to obtain said compound expressed by formula I. Mixing amount of said compound expressed by formula I into a cosmetic is usually 0.01-80%. Furthermore, surfactant is able to be jointly used to increase effect of the cosmetic. Said cosmetic is used as foundation, make-up cosmetic or dermal detergent, etc.
