Abstract: PURPOSE:To smooth relative axial movement by preventing occurrence of seizure even though the slide contact surfaces of a cam on a camshaft and a cam of a rockable cam follower are eccentrically worn due to a use frequency. CONSTITUTION:In an engine valve system, a rockable cam 4 has cam surfaces 18 which make slidable contact with intake and exhaust valves 3 through the intermediary of either one of movable members 16, that is, tappets and swing arms, and cam followers 19 which make slidable contact with cams 11 on a cam shaft 10, and is swingably supported, and the slidable contact surfaces of the cam followers 19 of the swingable cam 14 and the cams 11 on the cam shaft 10 are tapered toward the cam shaft 10 so that the valve timing is changed by relatively moving the cam shaft 10 in the direction thereof. The axial widths of the cams 11 and the cam followers 19 are different from each other, and the corner parts of the cam surfaces on the side where it is formed to be narrower, are rounded so as to have arcuate parts 19a, 19b.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a means for preventing abrasion of oscillating cans with a valve timing control device in which the oscillating cams are oscillated by a rotary can. CONSTITUTION:In an engine E, radii of curvatures of cam surfaces of a first and a second oscillating cams 13, 14 are set larger at their portions being in contact with a first and a second intake cams 11, 12 when an intake valve lifting rate is large. A surface pressure is thus reduced for improving abrasion resistance. When lifting rates of the first and second oscillating cans 13, 14 is large, abrasion is not generated at portions of high surface pressure being abutted against with the first and second intake cams 11, 12, and durability of a cam mechanism is improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a means for improving durability of a support mechanism of oscillating cams with a valve timing control device in which the oscillating cams are oscillated by means of a rotary cam which has a tapered cam surface formed on a cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:In an engine E, a first and a second oscillating cams 13, 14 are respectively integrated with a cylindrical first and second support members 19, 20 externally fitted to an oscillating shaft 18. A front end of the first support member 20 is abutted against a second bearing part 3. A rear end of the second support member 20 is abutted against a third bearing part 4, while a rear end of the first support member 19 is abutted against a front end of the second support member 20. Even in the case that front strong thrust force is supplied to the first and second oscillating cams 13, 14, accordingly, such thrust is received by the second bearing part 3. Strong force is not applied to the portion between the members composing the support mechanism for the oscillating cams 13, 14, so that durability of the support mechanism for the oscillating cams 13, 14 is improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce sliding spots necessary to rock a rocking cam for lifting an intake valve or exhaust valve of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A rocking cam 12 is rocked sliding through a rush adjuster on an intake or exhaust valve 10 of an engine to lift the valve 10 as it is rocked. The rocking cam 12 is formed on the cam surface with a lift arcuate part not to lift the valve 10 even in sliding on the valve 10 and a lift arcuate part to lift the valve 10 in sliding on the valve 10. A driving cam 14 is supported by a driving cam shaft 15 to rock the rocking cam 12 as it is rotated. The opening and closing timing of the valve 10 is changed by the shift of the rocking center of the rocking cam 12.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce sliding spots necessary for rocking a rocking cam to lift a valve while enabling an intake valve or exhaust valve of an engine to be stopped. CONSTITUTION:A rocking cam 12 rocks sliding through a rush adjuster 11 on an intake valve or exhaust valve 10 of an engine to lift the valve 10 along with the rocking. The rocking cam 12 is formed on the cam surface with a lift arcuate part not to lift the valve 10 even in the slide on the valve and a lift arcuate part to lift the valve 10 in the slide on the valve 10. A driving cam 14 is supported by a driving cam shaft 15 to rock the rocking cam 12 along with the rotation. When an angle made by the reference line L1 passing through the rocking center of the rocking cam 12 with a straight line L2 interconnecting the point of the rocking cam 12 contacting the driving cam 14 and the rocking center of the rocking cam 12 is changed, the opening and closing timing of the valve 10 is changed.
